Preparing for Rita, if you don't evacuate, what are you doing ?

People on the outskirts of Houston who are staying in town what are you doing to prepare your homes, inside and out?

I hope you are out of harms way and safe....remember, better safer than sorry...

I have a bad feeling about Rita....she is going to be as bad or worse than Katrina and spank Texas hard....

4. I think you may be right on. So far, we are staying. I have

extended family here too. We are on the West part of town about 30-50 miles from Houston and maybe 60+ miles from Galveston. We aren't in a flood area but it's the wind eh.

I am not sure what to put away inside? Or is that pointless?

say that? What makes you think so? Just curious.

3. How far to the west are you? We survived Carla (I can barely remember)

in '61. We had a two story brick home in Sharpstown. New. Shingles had to be replaced on the roofs, but not even a window was shattered. Dad had taped the inside and outsides of the windows with masking tape (now they are boarded up), we stocked up on supplies, had gas laterns, gas stove, filled the bathtubs up with water, and it was FUN! I kid you not! From a kid's perspective, of course.

5. We are near Katy. West side of Houston. They are saying

Carla is the only thing to really compare Rita to. A kid's perspective is different...thanks though, you made me smile.
