Gossip Cindy Adams: Brazile NO family tragedy, but she backs Bush
Help me out here. I could possibly understand Brazile's (9/11 type?) reaction, her support of Bush, in light of the suffering and tragedy her family, and her city, have gone through. But, as I understand it, the vast majority of others who shared her tragedy have nothing but anger and contempt for George Bush. Is Donna in thrall to her friend, Karl Rove? Is she hoping for more help for NO if she is supportive of Bush and his administration? Or is she sincerely convinced that Bush is doing what he can now, after an intial failure to respond to Katrina?

NY Post, gossip columnist Cindy Adams, A PERSONAL LIFE UNDER WATER

....CNN regular Donna Brazile, who now runs her own company out of D.C., was born in a Louisiana charity hospital. Mother a maid, father a janitor, dirt poor, no running water, Donna is one of nine children. The hurricane devastated them. She says: "I'm an African-American whose life has been a victory. But then came Katrina."

The family's whole area was under water. Her diabetic dad couldn't leave and was rescued after five days, dead bodies floating in his face. His only chair, a rocking chair, destroyed in 8 feet of water. One sister wasn't found for six days. Another's children, in the care of an older child, drowned. A disabled sister in a nursing home was only located after Donna appealed on CNN and offered $500 for someone to go there and look. The Wildlife and Fisheries operation eventually found her. An elderly cousin was raped in the Superdome. There was an autistic niece who couldn't help herself. An uncle lay trapped in an attic nearly a week....

***

Donna Brazile's DNA is Democratic. During 2000's famous fateful vote, she was in Florida fighting that system that produced those chads that rejected her candidate and elected his opponent. But, today, as President Bush is pummeled for inadequacies in the wake of this tragedy, she's his fierce defender.

"Right now we need a president who will help. He's helping. I'm so grateful. Poverty and misery is humbling. I'm humbled to the core that this administration is helping the poorest of the poor. Why beat up on a president who's helping? When I'm calling around for willing hands, I'm not worrying about party affiliation....

***

This Brazilnut's tough to crack. Hard on the outside, sweet on the inside....."These people are hurting. You can't put roadblocks in front of them. Can't tell them to go file an application. They don't know how. They have no computers. They have nothing. They're lost. Don't embarrass them. They've been humiliated enough.

"Girl, I only tell you, I applaud this president for stepping up."

7. Donna..Donna..Donna

It appears to me that Donna is the "successful" one in the family, and in MOST families (especially dirt-poor ones), the "one who makes it", reaches down and pulls the others up..

For Donna to go on TV or to put into print, the squalor that her family lives with day-to-day, is a reflection on her..

It seems as if it would actually take very little to help her family a lot..I know that lots of older folks are stubborn and refuse to leave what they are familiar with, but it sure sounds as if Donna is using the poverty background to offer a sharp contrast with her life of "success" now,and yet she's somehow OK with leaving the rest of her family behind...just where they always were.

Personally speaking, if I COULD, I would spend any windfall I had on helping all of my family some, instead of just helping myself a LOT..

Maybe Donna has been drinking Karl's koolaid too long:(

8. ya know...I felt the same thing....
we were listening to her on CNN talk about the sorry living conditions of her family, and I thought, with all the money she makes as a GOP-kiss ass, fake-Dem pundit, isn't she embarrassed to let the world know that she hasn't helped them at all?
And, as you say, they may be proud, and stubborn and all that, but it sounds as if the entire family BUT her is living in desitute poverty!

9. I think so, too..
And She sounds like a tightwad to me.."$500.00" to go see about your family in Hurricane Devasted Flooded place?

Maybe that's why she likes the repubs so much..me, myself, and I.

Someone said the other day ..maybe she's suffering from "Stockholm Syndrome"? Maybe she's sorry she left them in squalor?

I don't know..All I know is that she's Ignoring the Dangers of the bushwa in favor of High Fucking Drama.

10. Exactly what I was thinking
Why did grandpa only have one chair? and the rest shows me she did nothing to help her family...which sounds more like Repuge values...I don't know - I gave up on her long ago, I can't see anything liberal in her....except to use the party.

11. She's a plant, pure plain and simple.
Karl is one of her best friends. Karl is the enemy of the security of this country thus Donna is really good friends with someone who is every bit as dangerous to democracy as Bin Laden (fake or real) ever was.

The points you make on her family still living in poverty when she is such a "success" story speaks volumes but then they might have refused any help or most help from her two faced hands.

12. me too
her father had only ONE chair?? why wasn't donna, after all of her own success, taking care of them financially, lifting them out of their poverty?? (maybe she was, but this story sure doesn't sound like it).

13. Her "friend" Trent Lott got supplies in for a relative
She has been personally helped by her former political adversaries.

And that makes them alright for Donna. And why not? She is a woman who takes care of herself first foremost, her family comes second, and those suckers without her connections? Let them eat mud-soaked cake.
