3. Not even a wave, yet.
But watch what comes off the coast of Africa, as that's what ends up developing much of the time.

4. Didn't Katrina & Rita develop off the coast of Florida?
And not off the coast of Africa?

Generally, the ones that hit the Gulf develop much clioser to the continental U.S.

The hurricanes that have bad effects on the East coast will develop aroung the mid Atlantic.

Fortunately, most that have developed there this year have ended up going nowhere fast.

6. The energy waves come off Africa
and come across the Atlantic, and then form closer to the US (usually).

7. Yup, I always watch the Eastern Atlantic throughout the hurricane season
Sometimes, you can follow a storm before it even develops into a Tropical Wave, through becoming a Tropical Depression, then a tropical storm and finally through hurricane status.

My hubby says I'm obsessed, but I told him as long as I'm bathing, sleeping and eating its not an obsession, its a healthy interest!
