Anyone listening to the House debate on Head Start and Religion
On C-SPAN 1 right now?

They are debating an amendment that would allow religious based Head Start programs to refuse to hire anyone that is NOT a member of their religion. Legislating discrimination on the governments dime? :wtf:

1. That's not right
children should be exposed to diversity from the get-go. Allowing this gives me the creeps, and reminds me of a song from South Pacific:

You've got to be taught to hate and fear
You've got to be taught from year to year
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught
Before its too late
Before you are six, or seven, or eight

To hate all the people your relatives hate.....

Bobby Scott talking about your points right now. "turning the clock back to 1968" ... upside down world!

5. One would think so
especially if they want federal funds. Private schools can make that call, but they don't get your and my tax dollars to do it.

John Boehner is pounding this ... even evoked the Clenis and legislation that he passed trying to say that Clinton did the same thing. He of course was challenged by Bobby Scott on that point.

8. More proof
that these fools will NEVER stop until they get their totalitarian theocracy.

No doubt Chief Justice Roberts would rule this law completely constitutional.

9. I agree - he would see no issue with this because, well,
they passed this law. I am just the umpire. "Throw the bum out".

11. There shouldn't be religious based head starts to begin with
Head start is a public education program, not a parochial one.
