As to the New Orleans fatalities...
...I heard something on NPR this morning that indicated that most of the dead were turning out to be children and elderly. Can anyone verify having heard this?

If true, pretty much blows the shit out of the whole "they elected to stay" argument, don't it?

1. I saw that, and it is entirely reasonable
The people who died are the ones who couldn't get away from the floodwater. This means those who were trapped in their attic when the water rose beyond the peak of the roof, or who died in the attic when the water didn't recede because of the heat (it gets to 130F in an attic around here this time of year most of the day), or who were too weak to climb back down after the storm. This means (1) most of the dead are in attics and haven't been found yet, and (2) in areas where the water did not crest the rooftops most of the dead will be those too weak to either hack through the roof or otherwise escape, e.g. children, sick, and elderly.

2. HERE is an article/photos that stated that buses were lined up to evacuate
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 03:37 PM by evolvenow
everyone, and help to do so, and people were not allowed the help, and the long line of buses was washed away.

This needs to be tried as a mass murder case, none of this should have ver happened.

Ja see how in Texas they evacuated everyone, including hospital patients, elderly in nursing homes, children, animals, and already have food, water, medics in the area on standby.

NO was murder, and the war criminals need to be indicted. What kind of karma does the killing of thousands and thousands of innocents create? Must be hell.

Just horrible, the suffering of those people that needed help and were given none.
