A positive sign: poll on gospel site says "no" to religion & politics
By accident, I found this site:
Gospel 1590 KPRT

...and this poll:
Do you think that politicians should use religion as a tool to attract voters?
Yes (21%)
No (78%)

http://www.kprt.com/index_sorry.shtml

One assumes that listeners of gospel music consider themselves to be religious; good sign then that those who believe religion should not be used as a means to a political end outnumber those who do by a 4:1 margin.

4. Yeah, and I'm the tooth fairy.......
you can count the number of politicians that actually believe in the myth on one hand. To them it's just another tool to pull the wool over the voter's eyes. If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. That's been bush's motto since his first campaign for any office. The man's a total idiot, but he's good at acting sincere and laying on that "folksy" bullshit charm. I'd rather have a person with a brain any day of the week and I could give a good shit if he was charismatic. All of bush's so called charisma isn't doing him or the country a damned bit of good when the chips are down. We need a real leader now, not some corn-pone, fake Texan who's too damned lazy to read a Presidential Daily Briefing.

6. So you don't think a Christian can be corrupt?
If a Christian does bad things, they must automatically be a non-believer?

That's rather bigoted, isn't it?

2. I don't think that poll is worded fairly
Do you really think fundies feel like bush is "using" religion as a "tool" or do you think they feel bush is legislating partially based on his sincere religious beliefs? I think the way the poll asks the question *might* imply some sort of fake or disingenuous use of religion. Just my take
