I'm not personally interested in whether Bush is drinking
Whatever it is about Bush that leads to disaster is going to be a question for shrinks and historians. We've heard drunk, dry-drunk, selfish rich boy, removed parents, just evil, and my favorite for its poetry, the thought of "failure" as a Platonic ideal that clings to Bush physically and manifests itself in these monumental failures. It all sounds like the debate over whether Bush lied about WMD in Iraq or was merely incompetent.

At some level, evil and negligence and incompetence all have the same result.

We usually make the distinction because mere negligence and incompetence, supposedly, can be fixed by attention and work, while evil cannot. But really, has anyone suggested a problem with Bush that can be fixed, or won't reoccur? If you think he's stupid, is he going to get any smarter? If you think he's a drunk, is he going to sober up now? If he is lazy, is he going to rededicate himself to hard work? If 9/11 changed everything EXCEPT the president, he could have an imbalance of humours, for all it matters. He ain't changing.

He's got to be REINED IN. He has to be controlled. Congress has to take away the car keys, mandate reporting daily, appoint a sponsor, a tutor, a parole officer, or all of the above. We'll figure out later what the pathology is.

But the drunk angle is important to self righteous freepers and Xtians who need an excuse to turn on Bush. So carry on.

1. I already know
He was a coke head that wont admit his addiction why should i be surprised that he is drunk, in fact if i knew he took a drink once in a while it might make him seem more human. He's just like every other self righteous ass who says he doesnt do something and does it anyway.

6. Yes, you're right.
The right wing would forgive Bush for being a drug addict. But for covering it up.. I don't know.

7. whatever it takes to get him OUT. Nothing about him interests me
frankly. I would prefer not to have to waste my time thinking about, looking at, and certainly speculating about him and what makes him sick.

But he's killing people and destroying all our lives, our country, our environment. He is vile pathetic scum. I hope someday we can all just FORGET he ever existed, but considering the years it will take to clean up the messes and catastrophes he'll be leaving in his wake.....

No he's never going to change, you're right about that. We need to get rid of him. Taking away the car keys is a good analogy.

11. I don't know if it's booze, stupidity, or anything else...but I know that

this is the most incompetent administration this nation has ever seen.
The criminal charges are starting to filter in for some of those close to bush, and I'm sure that bush is nothing more than a cheap imitation of someone with any type of compassion.

Failure is the bush way, he has never succeeded in anything he has attempted, tax cuts, then start a war...:wtf: Start a war on spurious grounds, then try to salvage it when it falls flat...:grr:

Drunk, sober, colehead...makes no difference, he is nothing more than a failure, and he will remain so until he looks at himself in the mirror, then goes out and walks in the ditches he's dug...I never expect to see that....for he is a coward as well.

12. the drunk angle is NOT ONLY important to self righteous freepers
and xtians. Some of us actually have been or are in recovery. We know all the crap addicts and drunks pull, drunk, sober or dry drunk. And we are not freepers or christians. Granted there are some of both in AA and the like, but I dooubt they are here on DU!

14. So you would be less or more upset if Bush were drinking?
Doesn't make any difference to me. Whatever he is, he isn't going to change and he isn't acceptable. All our courses of action are the same.

Now, there may be people who would like the freedom to admit Bush has screwed up, and they might want to blame booze to give themselves and Bush an out.

16. Booze doesn't give GWB a way out
Personally it does matter to me because just before election 2000 it came out he had had a DUI, and this drinking angle shows just how corrupt the media and his supporters are. His supporters are the ones who need their noses rubbed in good ol dub's drinking again.

First of all any sponsor worth their salt woould tell their sponsees not to drink near beer (O'Douls & Sharps are 2). Good ol dub has been doing that all along. All the Jesus freaks who think Dub saying his favorite political philosopher need a dose of reality check. Jesus wasn't a politician. Alcoholics always compensate - they take up gambling, god or become workaholics or they hide oout in meetings and or church. If ol Dub was never in recovery and this was all a Rove wet dream it matters to me and should be used to beat his supporters over their heads with.

13. I'm stunningly single minded on bush
I repeat: I just want him out of office, tried and convicted for crimes against humanity, and spending a good portion of the rest of his life in a Louisiana prison on a chain gang. He can learn to make pruno for all I care.
