Center for street teens finds itself homeless (Rita shelter)
Houston Chronicle

A homeless-youth center that had planned to operate as a shelter during Hurricane Rita closed Wednesday after the building management ordered the group out without notice, center officials said.

Staff members of Stand Up for Kids said a member of the building's leasing office called the teenagers "drug addicts and prostitutes" and threatened the teens with arrest...

The center's staff planned to gather about 60 teens Friday evening and give them shelter overnight, they said.

But a member of the building's management office said that extra security would be guarding the doors and anyone attempting to enter would be arrested, according to Stand Up for Kids staff.

Nice.
