Christian School in Calif. Expels Girl Because Parents Are Lesbians
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGB3YQCCYDE.html

ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) - A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.

Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.

"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.

Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.

1. And They Consider Themselves Christian -- What About The Student?
Why punish the student? Although, the girl doesn't want to be going to such a "school" anyway.

2. At least one parent?
How would they know? Just because a couple is heterosexual doesn't mean either of them are moral!

The school officials are just proving that they aren't very good Christians.

3. These are the worst kind
of Christian there are. No different between them and the Taliban as far as I'm concerned. In fact they shouldn't really call themselves Christian the correct title would be hypocrite.

4. Punish the Child to advance a Political Agenda. How Christian (not)
They shot themselves in the foot. They have now lost a child they could have brainwashed. They have given all the other children an object lesson in hypocrisy.

6. I wonder why Shay's parents enrolled her in this school in the first place
It seems a Christian fundamentalist school would be an odd choice for them.

13. so she would be treated in a christian way, in the girls difference
if using jesus teaching, he walked amongst the prositute and thieves, not in reform, but love. the true christ would have loved and shielded these children. the parents made an ooopps. public iwth all the bullying is much easier

i too had kids in chrisitan school for 6 years. because of their differences. my childrens differences. but at a point i had to say, this group is causing spiritual damage to my kids because they are no longer wlaking in love. wlkaing in hate, in blindness. began about fall 2003 for me. but really kicked in gear spring 2004

14. I am a non-practicing Jew and am spiritualy ecclectic
with Buddhism being closest to my beliefs, and do believe in the concepts of the teachings of Christ. I just don't understand how so many of these "Christian" organizations don't live those teachings.

16. Then why do they call themselves "Christians" and not by any other
name? Is the word Christian used as a "hook" to get non-suspecting people corraled into their churches?

BTW... your post was an excellent explaination as to why I do not practice Judaism.

18. the ministers that lead has awesome responsibility. they fail
they use the old testament to control a bunch of afraid sheep. they promote old testament as the rule book to christianity. sheep are so afraid, and dont think they have the ability to hear christs words, so they allow the church minister to 1, 2, 3.... them in how to be a good christian. it is lack of faith in self. ergo lack of fatih in christ word. jesus says, i am within. he is there for us to hear. ultimately, self. trust in self, god omnipresent , in all things, then .......

but the church knows if people go there the church will not have power. it will be self empowerment. they have learned over last two decades of people being spiritually away, (80's and 90"S) how to manilpulate the people. sinner. fear. old testament

works off fear. they put fear and lack into their sheep. sinner.

19. Thank you again for another excellent reply. Fear has been used
throughout history to control the masses, and it looks like there are elements both in these churches and within our government who have learned their history lessons very well.

It also says volumes about how abused many people in our society are. The parishioners of these sects sound like abused children who still love their parents, and equate this psychological abuse/control with their need to be love.

There has to be a way to get through to these people to end this cycle. It really is tragic.

7. Let's all give these folks a call
I Googled up Ontario(CA) Christian School and came up with the following:
Ontario Christian Schools
931 W. Philadelphia Ave.
Ontario, CA 91762-0917
Ph: 909-983-4644

http://www.ocschools.org

LEN STOB - Superintendent
lstob@ocschools.org

It would be good to light up their phones and fill up Len's inbox today through Monday. The next best thing, perhaps, to Len showing up for work to find a "60 Minutes" news team in his office.

9. Plus, they're shooting themselves in the foot.
If they really want to "save" that girl, why would they kick her out to be solely influenced by her mothers? :sarcasm:

Seriously, they did that girl a favor. Why lesbians would want their daughter in that kind of school is beyond my comprehension.

10. Christians being intolerant.
Is anyone really surprised?

Christians are just as likely to be intolerant as anyone else in the world. The difference is that our political environment allows intolerant Christians to be loud about their intolerance.

11. Next they should take a look into the lifestyles of EVERY SINGLE
other parent in that school. How many kids would be left? "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style"??

12. Do the rules count adultery being committed by "good Christian" hubbies?
How about wife beating? Child abuse? Do they check that the kids aren't being sexually abused?

22. Republican family values. Granted, its the schools right to refuse, but
its just bullshit to do that and then claim to be Christian.

The terrifying thing is that Republicans seem to be pushing to all but eliminate public school. Soon, people with "unsavory" backgrounds might not be able to get an education.

24. Much as I've never liked it...
"it" being that private schools have the ability to pretty much discriminate as they choose simply because they are "private". But, that said, I wonder if this school is receiving any public funding?

25. from 'The Cry of a Tiny Babe" by Bruce Cockburn . . .
"And there are others who know about this miracle birth
The humblest of people catch a glimpse of their worth
For it isn’t to the palace that the Christ child comes
But to shepards and street people, hookers and bums"

not equating lesbians with "street people, hookers and bums" by any means . . . just pointing out that what Christianoids DO and what Jesus TAUGHT are so far apart that those who practice this kind of bigotry demonstrably have NO understanding of the message . . . none whatsoever . . .
