Blue tarps on the burned out bus.
Guess they're trying to figure out how to extract the charred bodies.

2. Very grim -- I had to turn off the TV. After yesterday, with the photos
of dog and other corpses. ::struggling to maintain my composure::

3. It's been a difficult series of weeks for those of us
who have human feelings, hasn't it?

4. The first two weeks after Katrina, I went into a big emotional slide.

I'm not even really affected and no one in my family is, either.

It was just the memories of living in Florida for 28 years -- hurricanes were vicious storms then and they're 1,000 per cent worse now, even though we can track them better.

I had nightmares last night -- thought there were snakes crawling up a white bi-fold door -- couldn't sleep and got up at 3 AM. I wish I could put away these awful feelings. The irony is that I'm supposed to be getting ready for a fantastic three-week Hawaiian vacation, with seven other people -- and I feel very guilty.

6. No Amount Of Feeling Bad On YOUR Part Will Help. Your Awareness
is already awake. You deserve a break, a chance to shut off the news and concentrate on the beauty around you.

The world, and DU, will still be here when you get back replenished.

7. My plans for the day include a swim and some food shopping --
The weather has been beautiful here in Oregon and I'm grateful for our sunny days. I happen to like cold weather, so the Hawaii break will be a push. Besides that, I get to care for two grandchildren while we give their parents a couple of days off.

I'm replenishing at your insistence. I guess that's not a "crying shame," is it?

8. Thanks, cryingshame.
I needed that. I've been glued to the TV for what seems like weeks and I have to get out of here and go for a walk. No wonder I'm so depressed and angry.

Kiss-kiss for your good idea.
