I wonder how many 2 SUV families evacuated both of them.
The couple interviewed on NPR this morning loaded up both of them and headed off into the traffic jam.

1. I was thinking the same thing
Next time I think they are going to require 2 or more per vehicle and a way for "singles" to pickup other singles. I bet there were lots of families where the wife was driving one vehicle and the hubby in the other. If they had 16+ teenagers, they'd be driving cars 3,4,...

2. Yeah, my husband told me that it was reported on the news
that one reason for the huge traffic jam is that multiple-driver families are packing as much as their stuff as possible into all of their vehicles, leaving only room for the one driver.

Heck, if it were me, I would be concerned about my husband, the dog, his food, his ball, his blankey, and some food, clothes, and water for us. Maybe I'm fortunate that there is not much materially in my life that I believe is worth saving.

3. I wonder how many of them considered giving a ride to an
elderly or disabled neighbor or to their cleaning lady who takes the bus around town.

4. Leave them!!!!
Leave your SUV's behind, let them be flooded!! The insurance settlement will far exceed their resale/trade in value!! Believe me, I'm in process of being screwed for my stupid decision 3 years ago to own an explorer. Its all the Honda sales guys can do to keep a straight face. So leave them behind!!!

5. I have some friends
The parents each have a car and a motorcycle.
They also have kids that are 19,18,17,16 and 15.
EACH of them has a car.
I guarantee you one thing as well...every ONE of their vehicles were driven out.
