Why are there no helicopters dropping sandbags NOW!!! Almost a month after |

Katrina and they haven't shored up levees or in advance of Rita planned to have those 3,000 llb sadbags ready for a breach eventuality?!?

30 mph at most. The coast guard can fly in much higher winds for search in rescue.

They dropped sandbags after Katrina but that was only a temporary fix.

hurricane is bearing down on the area. It is not an easy job empty, carrying sandbags makes it an engineering and piloting "challenge". I say don't risk lives to save an area that is already destroyed.
Patch it up when they are out of danger.

While they aren't yet in the city, it would be too hazardous to fly a heliocopter in this weather.
