What happens when NOLA floods again?
I'm wondering if anyone knows if most of the folks and animals are out of there.

I'm also wondering if a flood would help wash out some of the leftover toxins. I assume many structures are already destroyed and filled with toxins. More water may help clean up some of the residue.

I'm assuming all are out of there and noone else is trapped.

1. It would probably be best for Rita to go into the NOLA area
if it has to go anywhere. The least amount of marginal damage would be in NOLA where there's little left to damage.

3. Those toxins have to go somewhere.....
with the flooding it's a sure bet they'll end up in Lake Ponchartrain. The EPA says the Lake isn't in bad shape, that all the toxins already pumped into it haven't hurt it that much. Bullshit. We have to remember that the EPA is a "faith based" organization now. There is no place for "science" in the bush administration. I have no trust or faith in the EPA anymore and won't until a responsible Democrat is in the White House.

5. Yes, but it's going into the Lake, River, and Gulf
under any scenario. I know in the SF Bay delta and bay, it's often beneficial to have a strong flood to help cleanse the area. It may be help mitigate some of the environmental disaster to heve heavy rainfall the rest of this season.

4. What about the Mississippi?
Is anyone doing any scenarios regarding impact of the torrential rain NOAA is predicting will occur when Rita stalls around NW La and NW Tx for a few days after landfall? I assume the 15 " of sustained rain is going to be doing something when it gets to the New Orleans area.--Possibly something bad....
