13. Probably a big fat lie on HIS resume
Although, usually if someone is only "acting", it means that they actually came up the ranks in the agency, but Bush is waiting for some political/donor/hack/crony to become available. Hey Georgie, I really really appreciate being named a member of your cabinet and all, but can you hold off for a couple of months while I pay off my mistress/bookies/whatever before the FBI background checks and the Senate confirmation hearings?

6. Well, lets see....
We have a veterinarian as Director of Women's Health Issues, a horse show rules enforcer as former director of Fema, hmmmm, what unqualified political hack can we pay back with this plum? Someone who can lie with a straight face would really be an asset. Someone not burdened with knowledge, understanding, morals or ethics would work.

7. Scotty McClelland's brother was head of FDA but he's moved over to
another position. I think it wasn't long ago that the new FDA guy was appointed.

24. Yep....here's the Scoop...on Mark McClellan...
Bush Nepotism ...everyone in his Crime Family Administration is related by blood or marriage.. :-(

-------------

Biography of Mark McClellan, M.D., PH.D.
Commissioner
Food and Drug Administration

Mark McClellan was sworn in as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on November 14, 2002, following Senate confirmation by unanimous consent.

The FDA is a critical consumer protection agency, which assures the safety of foods and cosmetics, and the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals, biological products and medical devices - products representing roughly 25 cents out of every dollar in U.S. consumer spending.

Prior to joining FDA, Dr. McClellan was Associate Professor of Economics at Stanford University, Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford Medical School, a practicing internist, and Director of the Program on Health Outcomes Research at Stanford University. He was also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Visiting Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Additionally, he was a Member of the National Cancer Policy Board of the National Academy of Sciences, Associate Editor of the Journal of Health Economics, and co-Principal Investigator of the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), a longitudinal study of the health and economic well-being of older Americans. From 1998-99, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy, where he supervised economic analysis and policy development on a wide range of domestic policy issues.

During 2001 and 2002, Dr. McClellan served in the White House. He was a Member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, where he advised on domestic economic issues. He also served during this time as a senior policy director for health care and related economic issues for the White House.

16. It appears he was fired
My guess is he wanted to approve the Plan B morning after pill, so the wingnuts forced him to quit. He was only confirmed two months ago, and he has been a lifelong veterinarian and is known as a really decent guy.

20. It's probably no flu vaccine, or maybe SARS or bird flu,
of course, with no vaccine. But it could be those mice on the loose with plague, or maybe the monkeys from a year or so ago with ebola. You can bet it will be something really fun.

"The highly regarded women's health chief at the Food and Drug Administration resigned Wednesday in protest of her agency's refusal to allow over-the-counter sales of emergency contraception..."
