Season premiere of West Wing |
|
Both the Dem & the Repuke Candidates are big name actors, who do you think will be the next President? Will the show stay the course & keep it a dem since we have an asshole repuke in the Whitehouse now.

I offer that they may let alda's character win, and then, uh, um, show the real world how a REAL REPUBLICAN (not some fudamentalist- stick-up-his-ass f****r like Bush) leads....
OR AM I JUST DREAMING HERE????

This is an ensemble cast...in order to keep any of the (popular) regulars, the Dem has to win the election and keep many (most)(all?) of them on his staff.
I'm curious who will stay. Leo, of course, 'cause he's the VP. Josh, obviously. Don't know about Donna. Toby and CJ are the ones I'm wondering about. The only way I could see it working is if Josh, Toby and CJ all stay in their current jobs but with the new admininstration. However, it's very possible that over the course of this season they will bring new people on board that fit with Santos' agenda.
Will be interesting to see.

& thats how they are going to write her off (just an educated guess). I hope Toby stays on ( I love his wit!). Donna? I haven't a clue.

His brother the astronaut committed suicide. Toby is still dealing with his death. Toby definetly would of leaked the story if his brother was in space.
Plus Toby leaked something to a candidate (healtcare plan?), and it took Josh one episode to figure out who exactly leaked it.

I agree to all outward appearances it is CJ as the leak, which makes me suspicious. I agree that there is compelling reason to suspect Toby. I truly don't know and, it would not be unreasonable nor unbelievable to find out it's someone else. Just have to wait and see...

23. I think it's either her |
|
or she gave the information to someone else who leaked it. She is definitley a suspect though since she acts so weird. Either that or the writers have some wild and crazy outcome and she's weird for a reason.

When Leo recommended his replacement as Chief, he did NOT recommend Josh so he's not sure Josh has the right temperment for the job. I don't know that Santos would think Josh is right for the job either. Which leaves Josh in his current (actually former) position.

|
It's not the same with Bartlett. Leo and Jed were almost father-figure types and much older than Josh. Santos and Josh do well together so I think it would work just fine.

Leo will stay. Josh and Donna of course. As much as I like CJ and Toby, I don't think they would stay. They'd bring in new blood.
Only thing is, the girl with the weird voice has got to go. She gets on my last nerve. Nails on a chalkboard is how I'd describe it.

and then there will be proof of election fraud. He, and his entire administration will resign in disgrace, to begin serving long, well-deserved sentences in a Federal prison.
The End.

13. The show is not coming back in Fall 06 unless the ratings pick up |
|
This season will be written as both a series finale and as a jumping board for a new presidency and the series continuing. They recently moved the elections from the November sweeps period to the February sweeps period. This will let them get two ratings books in before having to decide who wins the election. The episodes are in the can about 8 weeks early, so they would not need to film the winner until after the December holidays.
Here is what I think will happen: If the first two ratings books are strong, NBC will want to go forward and Smits' Santos will win. If the ratings are not strong, Alda's Vinick will win, and the series will be canceled, ending in May with Bartlet leaving the White House. Alda has said he does not want to do a weekly TV series, so there is little chance of him winning and doing the series for the next season.
I still love the show and hope it does well and Smits wins. To be honest, its kind of bullshit because there is no way a pro-choice non church goer would win the republican nomination. But, its TV, so its all fun.

I can't wait! Only sucky thing is the show comes on the same time "Charmed" does. Luckily my family has more than one tv and vcr so I can video tape that show and watch "West Wing." I've been looking forward for this show for a good while now so I don't want to miss it. I hope the character Santos wins although it would be interesting to see a republican be president after Bartlet.

26. I've wondered about the outcome too |
|
and agree Alan Alda likely couldnt face playing a Repuke for very long.... even if his character is far removed from the real ones.
It also seems likely to me that this is the last year for the series. It probably has run its course. And it has been moved to a terrible time slot.
And I can never resist saying this.... why cant Martin Sheen be the real President?

:( This is the sixth season right? Most shows go seven season's. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" went seven and then they all decided to quit and go onto other projects. I miss that show too. :( I wish Sheen would run too. I do remember hearing a rumor earlier this year that he was running for governor of Ohio. Does anybody know about that?

36. Actually, I have to disagree. The topic presidency is expected to |
|
change, so, new cast etc., are completely within the truth of the show. They do a good job of covering different points of view, which captures both sides of the aisle. I don't think that I have ever watched a show faithfully after 3 seasons, (I get bored and usually can predict the next line), but this one is different.
And, I might add Alias, not sure what yr. they are in, but I can't wait till this season.
