"Once We Had A President Who Lied ...." -- New VR Ad in Support of 9/24

Media release statement on VR site:

9/22/05 - VelvetRevolution.us ("VR") launched a new ad today in the Washington DC City Paper (www.washingtoncitypaper.com) to tie in with the huge opposition protests around the White House this Saturday. Cindy Sheehan and tens of thousands of Americans will be on hand to oppose the war and other negative policies of the Administration. VR will distribute hundreds of the ads at the protest and urge people to reform our government with enlightened and progressive leaders. Please make copies and give them to everyone you know, and donate to support this ad campaign so we can blanket the country with these ads.

12. Dumb question.
What war did Lyndon B. Johnson start? Vietnam was already in full throttle when he took over from Kennedy. Are you referring to the forays into Cambodia?

13. For full VN throttle, LBJ is your man, not JFK.
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 05:47 PM by cassiepriam
JFK started it before his death, but LBJ is the one who built it up
and kept it going. He kept lying to us, night after night, as our friends who were drafted came home in body bags. It was an awful time. LBJ was hated as much as Bush is now, well almost.
Nothing compares to shrub. Do a google on VN and LBJ.
And back then, the times were different. Young people were not apathetic and ignorant like the sheeple of today. The politics were divided along generational lines. Oldsters pro LBJ. Young anti war. They changed the world, for the better.

14. NO, NO, NO, NO,NO
LBJ was hated ONLY for greatly expanding Viet Nam war. In other areas, particularly civil rights and social programs, having come from the Senate where he was very powerful and knew where everyone's skeletons were, he twisted arms and accomplished a great deal.
On the other hand, to use Dick Gephardt's words, Bush has been a miserable failure, not only as president, but all his life, the miserable cockroach (but maybe I'm maligning cockroaches by saying that).

15. I remember LBJ being hated so much for US kids dying in VN
..that overrode at the time all the good he had done. And yes LBJ was considered a bright and qualified leader who had gone horribly wrong. He did actually believe in what he was doing. Bush has never done anything good whatsoever, in his entire life. He is stupid and evil to the core, and could care less about the US, democracy or freedom. So yes I agree that they are not in the same category.
But as a young adult I can remember the raw hatred for LBJ that was
prevalent at the time.
