Call 1-877-762-8762 NOW and tell Sen Patrick Leahy that you are |
|
extremely disappointed in him for voting John Roberts out of committee. Tell him you would like him to reconsider when the vote comes to the floor. On the evidence of Roberts' decision allowing US Citizens to be held in prison indefinitely, that in itself proves he will not up hold the Constitution.

1. I bvelieve this is a strategic move. |
|
Roberts is going to be confirmed. If Roberts is unilaterally opposed by all Dems the party will be labeled as obstructionist. A sign that "we" are willing to work with the opposition is prudent (I know -just how long can we be willing?!). Ergo enter Leahy and prob Dianne & another. Bottom line - we could have gotten much worse than Roberts. And will we be shocked when next week Shrubbie announces Janice Rogers Brown for O'Connor's seat? Then I say FILIBUSTER.

Why is it ok for the republicans to obstruct, but not the Democrats? What you are suggesting is where people get the idea that the Dem's don't have a spine.

7. Knew I'd get flamed on this one. |

Maybe I'm a shadow member of the "gang of 14?" Or a realist. You must admit we cant stop Roberts. But if Dumbya stupidly nominates JRBrown, (maybe even Fema Brown), Clement, or that other Texas ultra-conservative chick -then it should be total war; shut down the f'n senate. O'Connor's seat is THE ALAMO.

4. If we were dealing with reasonable people, then maybe we should |
|
not be obstructionists. But we are dealing with people who have been planning this coupe for 30 years. All the people they put in place are extremists, no matter how they appear. John Roberts is just as dangerous as Janice Rogers Brown if not more. This administration is driving this country like they stole it, because they did! They are trying to get as much damage done as fast as possible. There are no moderates in this regime!

6. In yesterday's local Vermont paper, it quoted Leahy as saying |
|
"it isn't a popularity contest" which, I assume, was a reaction to the negative reaction to his vote by his constituents. My response to that is that quite the contrary, it IS a popularity contest. That's why he won the last election and that's why he needs to vote the wishes of his employers . . . the voters of Vermont.
