The President says we are "wrong"
Let me paraphrase: "Yes, I can hear all of you telling me that you no longer believe in the direction I'm taking this country. Well, you are wrong."

What right does any public servant have to tell me (the person that public servant was sent to represent) that my view is "wrong"? More importantly, what right does a public servant have to look at the majority of people he has been sent to represent and tell them that their viewpoint doesn't matter?

It's past time to fire Bush. His policies not only threaten our safety but they threaten our democracy. Start impeachment proceedings now.

thanks for the second link in particular. It's onr thing to read that he said "terror" this many times, "al Qaeda" this many times, etc., but another to actually hear the drilling of fear into our hearts.

His remark had as much credibility as anything else he has said in the last 5 years. A least he is consistent, the truth is inevitably the opposite of whatever he says.

11. yes and the pressure has to be exerted on the repugs
because they are the ones running the show unfortunately. enough angray calls and letters to repug senators, etc. and maybe they will see Bush/Cheney as a liability. I tell you when their own reelections and butts are on the line they usually do a doubletake and consider what the public is saying. What do they call it, self preservation.

By your own admission, you're paraphrasing. What did * actually say that led you to conclude this is what he meant?

(No, I'm not a troll. I just don't think we should build or support a case against anyone — even the fuckwad in cheat — based on someone's interpretation.)

...

The president also moved to pre-empt critics of the war.

“I recognise their good intentions, but their position is wrong,” Mr Bush said on Thursday. “Withdrawing our troops would make the world more dangerous.”

...

-----

By the gods, did you think I could make this shit up?!?

He doesn't give a damn what *anyone* thinks because, if anyone dares to disagree with them, that person(s) is just "wrong".

24. Okay, thanks
Please understand, I was asking, not taking you to task. I'm a journalist and I've seen and changed far too many headlines because they didn't accurately reflect the story. So when I see something paraphrased, I automatically think, "Is this what was really said?" It's occupational cynicism.

I wouldn't mind a President telling a lot of people they're wrong. wrong for opposing same sex marriage, for example.

31. There is a difference
The polls being discussed were not pointed at constitutional law. They dealt with foreign policy.

I'm completely with you on the same sex marriage front because that is a Constitutional matter (just as mixed race marriage was 30+ years ago). That is also why, unless the GOP succeeds in making our country a theocracy, same sex marriage will be allowed once the issue is placed before the SCOTUS.

In my mind's eye, however, there is a huge difference between matters of Constitutional law and those of foreign policy. In matters of foreign policy, our 'representative' leaders should take their cues from us. At the very least, they should acknowledge when the majority of American disagree with them and attempt to explain to us.

In short, saying simply "you're wrong" is the attitude a prudish parent takes when a curious child inquires about sex. We don't need that type of arrogance and ignorance here in America. We need a leader who is willing to expand and grow our nation. We need a leader who truly cares about the people of this country. George W Bush is not that leader and, in my opinion, he threatens our way of life.

So it doesn't really mean much when he says we're "wrong."

If anything, coming from someone who has fucked up EVERYTHING he's touched... it a strong indicator that we are in fact right about prety much all the issues out there.
