I'm in coastal Alabama, over 400 miles from Port Arthur, Texas. Looks like the eye of Rita is headed near there.
We're getting winds of 25-30 mph and rain, heavy at times. Winds are forecast to go to 45-50 mph tonight.
I live on a bay and the water has just topped our bulkhead. Very high, especially for this time of year when we normally have very little tidal fluctuation.
Water is near dock level. Usually 2'-3' below.
I have friends and relatives in and around Lake Charles, LA and it looks like they'll be in the northeast quadrant. Like the Mississippi coast, they have casino boats (barges?) there. Not good.

2. Thanks. Yes, I've about had it up to *here* with hurricanes. |

We were thinking about selling, but I don't know if there will any buyers once people realize that we're in for some BAD hurricane seasons.
