WUSA/CBS coverage is the worst!
Pardon me while I finish throwing up.

Our DC-area CBS affiliate, WUSA, reported on the march in DC.
They grudgingly gave the number of marchers as about 100,000, which is the number the MSM has all agreed to report. They showed various demonstrators marching, and a brief shot of Cindy, with Jesse Jackson at her shoulder wiping his face. I think they tried to focus on the scruffiest looking people they could find.

After 10 to 15 seconds, they went to covering the counter-demonstrators (all 100 or so) and what they were saying, and interviewed some of them, and showed several shots of cute little toddlers holding flags and pictures of their daddies serving in Iraq, with - get this - the National Anthem playing in the background. This was what WUSA played as background, not something that was played at the rally. Oh, how very patriotic compared to those anti-war demonstrators.

I think they gave as much time, if not more, to the pro-war nutcases, who were pretty much wrapped in their flags.

This was one of the most biased pieces of tv reporting I have seen since the coverage of the Vietnam war protests. And I speak as someone who worked as a professional (print) journalist for more than 30 years before leaving newspaper work.

I guess the skunks are getting scared.

4. And here's the letter I sent the WUSA news director just now
I speak as someone who worked for more than 30 years as a print journalist, including a major daily in the New York area media market.

I'm disappointed at WUSA's decision to present utterly biased coverage of the anti-war rally today in DC. I cannot understand why you chose to devote at least half your report to the hundred or so pro-war counter-demonstrators, while there were hundreds of thousands of people filling the streets around the White House with urgent calls to end this pointless war.

I hope you're aware that major polling organizations have been reporting recently that a substantial majority of Americans now oppose the war. I believe your decision to focus so much time on the minority that still support the war is a grave disservice to most Americans.

The distorted view you chose to present included shots of cute toddlers clutching pictures of their daddies serving in Iraq, with the National Anthem playing in the background. Leni Riefenstahl would be proud of your station's propaganda.

Where were the close-ups of cute toddlers holding peace signs? I saw plenty of them; obviously WUSA chose not to see them.

WUSA's coverage is growing increasingly irrelevant, and I intend to boycott your sponsors and ask my friends to do the same.

3. But, also...
I was watching an internet feed on WUSA's website of the Operation Ceasefire rally and concert with Amy Goodman hosting.

This was about 2 hours long I think...

So I dunno??

5. But the average person is not going to see that
Viewers will watch the news clip again at 11 and assume there were just as many counterdemonstrators as there were war protesters.
