Navy reserves being called up for Iraq? WTF |
|
So, at my second job, my boss is Navy Resv. He goes on stints to the Pentagon for consulting. Just found out that he's been called up to go to Iraq. He's a dem, supports Wes Clark (trying to get me to head up a local chapter for Wes Clark, btw). This is about all the info his wife has at the moment, since he is currently at the pentagon. She told me today that she has no idea why they would call him up, other than the fact that the gov doesn't have enough people for rotations, and the hurricanes have put a dent in that.
They have two small children, and recently opened very small business. I have no idea how they'll manage if he is sent.

2. I wish the fucking pugs would start standing up and |
|
truely supporting the war and go there them fucking selves instead of continually shipping out people who don't agree with this fucking BS.

3. There was a DUer here with a similar experience |
|
His/Her son, in the Navy, was being reassigned to a patrol (I believe) on the ground in Iraq. Something he'd never been trained to do. I don't remember what his training was in the Navy, but it was totally opposite of what his reassignment would require.
Unreal. They're going for 'boots on the ground', now.

5. This is rather alarming. I know we have navy vets here and my dad is |
|
one himself. I think we should hear their opinions on this, but I bet it will be more or less what we are saying now. Things are going badly and they are spread thin when they bring the sailors in on the ground. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Peace Rally SUPER THREAD:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4870788 Save this nation one town, county, and state at a time:http://www.geocities.com/greenpartyvoter/electionreform.htm

6. The Marine Corps is part of the Navy. Therefore he can be re-assigned... |
|
to the Corps, re-trained as cannon fodder, and fed into the meat-grinder.
This doesn't happen often, so what is happening to him is probably punitive: the administration's retaliation against him for having protested the war or simply for being a Democrat.
