2. How sad there was no coverage at all on TV. Not a peep.
when I went to work today, no one at my job even knew there had been a protest.

4. I demand to hear from our senators!
I have been watching the event on C-span. I commend Jesse
Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Ralph Nader for standing up and
supporting our party. However, where is our senators who we
voted into office? I am sick of never knowing where they
stand on things. I want to hear from Obama and Hilliary. Do
you or don't you support this illegal war? Have you changed
your mind? They need to start talking!

8. I don't know why
Most of Americans are against this war. The polls are clearly showing that.

10. Because ANSWER is not who should be sponsoring the rallies
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 12:05 AM by Mari333
Unfortunately, they are all anyone has now, and they are far too shrill and fractured a group to appeal to the US Public. Until there is more of a grassroots group of everyday Americans at the forefront of these rallies, US Senators will avoid them . Heck , I couldnt watch the ANSWER speakers for very long without wanting to kick in the TV so I turned it off.
Too bad NONE of the march was shown, and only the ANSWER rally was shown on TV.

with people screaming Comrades!! Free Mumia!
We must bring down the Imperialist Occupiers!! Sisters and Brothers!! Free the Cuban Five!!
Im sorry, but until the rallies reflect grassroots people, senators wont show up.

16. hundreds of thousands wailing outside the WH is as grassroots as it gets
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 12:33 AM by thebigidea
who needs some stiff Senator to make a carefully worded statement with his/her eye on the next election at a protest, anyway? They'd be spectacularly out of place, no matter who was organizing it.

People go to protests to make their voices heard, not to listen to a campaign speech. So you don't like some of what you hear - chances are, they don't like what you say either. But there's plenty of room for everyone.

9. Tell them to TALK or WALK!
Those that don't stand up for freedom don't represent any of us.

If they won't talk, make them walk!

11. Heard that!
They need to stand up for the people of New Orleans, and they need to stand up against this illegal war that is killing innocent men, women and babies! If our leaders won't stand up for us, they need to get booted!

17. Hell yeah! I'm with you on that.
The Dems should have been all over TV SCREAMING when the people in NO were on the streets dying but we heard nothing from them. Nothing. That pissed me off more than you will ever know. Hell, *I* was screaming about it but where where they? Apparently the Dems preferred to wait it out and see what the polls said before they could decide where they stood on NO.

And the war? Well, since most of them voted for it (since it was popular in the polls at the time to do so), they'd rather stand by Dubya and appear to be "strong on defense" rather than admit they only voted that way because of the polls. Fsck 'em. Anyone that can't take a stand for the PEOPLE and against the corporations that sponsor them needs to get booted. Of course, that's hard to do with the rigged elections but maybe, just maybe, it will happen one day.

Welcome to DU candlebabe!

13. I agree entirely
Why can't we have multiple democratic candidates to choose from in presidential elections and governor elections and senatorial elections? Add all the votes to one party, but add all the devided votes up and whoever got most wins that? Or is that what they do? I just know I'm sick of having two candidates who suck every year, in any kind of the elections I mentioned. The only reason republicans are getting voted in is because we're offering nothing worthwhile democraticly (and before you tell me otherwise, name more than the few popular democrats who are doing things like hillary or boxer or conyers or kennedy, I can't think of many, I'm just glad new york has some good ones).

Although his motivation was sinister and that makes all the difference.
