What if the men and women in the Armed Forces turned on this war? |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 09:13 AM by bleedingheart
It has not been unheard of for armies to turn on their leaders.
What if the men and women in Iraq just locked up their leaders and started commandeering planes and evacuating back to the bases in Europe or the States?
I know...I am crazy...they won't do it...but does anyone else think it is a possibility???

1. Mass mutiny would be fun... |
|
but what about the Iraqis we'd abandon to the mess we made?
Nope, I'm not a troll. I try to be a realist.

That's actually the only hope. As long as young men and women bear arms for despots, we are not free.

I know people aren't supposed to find it entertaining, but I wouldn't be able to suppress a giggle at ole Stormie's downfall.

Any troops asinine enough to do that would be imperiling themselves.

In a democratic republic the military is subordinate to the civilian leadership... In a military dictatorship the opposite is true...
The current leadership can be replaced.... Our democratic form of government can't be...

Even if they are ordered to fire upon private, American citizens, most of them would do it. The same malady that infects most people also infects the armed forces. Somehow the assumption that those in power are stronger, smarter, and more well informed, reinforced by extreme secrecy policies, is a guiding light to virtually all rethugs and most dems.
