"Inside Deep Throat" (the porno not the W&B source, but still about Nixon)
I watched the dvd "Inside Deep Throat" last night. It was a really interesting movie about the reaction when the film came out and how the government reacted (the actor Harry Reems was the camera man and got asked to asked to act.....he made something like $300 for the film and got sent to jail for years because they decided to make an example of him). Nixon had a decency panel that basically said that adults can decide for themselves what is decent..... when the right got angry with him he tried to save face and crack down.

Linda Lovelace the star had some issues...her boyfriend or husband (I forget if they were married) was a scumbag who got her involved with the movie, so she was an easy target for the right wing (she testified that every time someone watched the film they were watching her be raped).

Anyway, it was very interesting and had a similar theme that exists in todays culture wars. My husband didn't want to rent it at first because my dad is on our netflix buddie list, but I assured him that it was a well reviewed documentary narrated by Dennis Hopper (although they do show scenes from the film).

1. oh and the movie had interviews with people like
Erica Jong and Bill Maher (diverse people)

It also didn't have a stand on porno. It was very clear about our right to freedom, but also pointed out the male mind behind the premise (where a man could fantasize about pleasing a woman that way)

2. I saw a good documentary about Linda Lovelace
a year or so ago. It featured the last ever interview with her husband Chuck who came across as an utter ****. Mark Kermode - the filmmaker & interviewer - recounts the experience here:

& there's videos at the bottom of this page:
