They seemed to all be ripping Bush apart. I loved what Friedman said, "It's all going to be okay until it's not!" That is so true. We have allowed China to pretty much own our country and we're going to be screwed when the bill comes due.

|
I am only an interested observer of the politcal scene and had no idea until I joined DU that we owed all this money to China.
Whose idea was THIS?? And when did it start? Can anyone catch me up to speed?

8. Yeah, I think I read here on DU last week that China owns about |
|
46% of our debt. Lovely, thought, isn't it? We pay the Saudis so they can have the means to kill our troops, and we are getting more to China.
Meanwhile, the financial sacrifices for the war, and Bush's* tax cuts for the wealthy will be on our children and grandchildren.

even a casual observer should known this, It's only beoing talked about EVERYWHERE. I have even seen political cartoons about it in weekly newspapers in "the heartland" (ie., the "no brainland").

for about a month or so. Strange thing is I get most of my news from blogs and online. So go figure!
But then I will have to say I often skip over economic news. So if that is the forum, then I guess I did miss it.

Seems to me,our collective questioning about the information we are fed helps to unspin it.Then there's the information that is a small paragraph, that get buried under infotainment, that somebody posts and we all discuss it.There is real information and discernment here.We are putting it front and center, that which is largely ignored elsewhere.I am so grateful for DU.

10. Friedman also commented that in spite of the increase in |
|
tax revenues to the govt., we have a greater increase in debt (bought by China, mostly). He added that Bill Clinton proved during his administration that you could have economic growth without cutting taxes.

25. AGREE! Scary how many people don't understand that US national debt |
|
is being funded by countries like Japan & China!! They seem to think the government is borrowing money from US banks and business or something. Wonder how "Red America" would feel if they knew that the Iraq war is being paid for by borrowing more money from China.

11. I heard a radio reporter on NPR yesterday who was asked if he got to |
|
talk to the wee cowboy. He said, no, Bush was more interested in the photographers.
I wished I had a rewind button so I could hear that over and over and over again!
Some of the media are swimming toward the light of truth and perhaps even decency, and once you have seen there is no turning back.

really like that guy. It seemed as if he cleaned Tim's clock and the comments about mother nature not being partisan and asking what kind of blackheart questions his friends mama's death were freakin' awesome.
There is a man who could stand up to any tepug or swift boat asshole and mop the floor with them.

talking about "earth tones" and other stupid bullshit (against Gore) during the 2000 campaign. I'll never forgive her for that either.
Yeah, now that the tide has turned, she speaks out against Chimpyshit once in a while. But she's *definitely* one of the ones responsible for helping him get into office. A fokkin' dipshit mediawhore. No forgiveness. Screw her and the horse she rode in on.
