Controversial Christian linked to skyrocketing number of predators

By Eric Weslander (Contact)
Sunday, September 25, 2005

LARNED — Psychologist Rex Rosenberg believes in demons.

He believes its possible to measure demonic influence with a survey he created.

Does the subject of the survey smell foul odors? Are they homosexual? Do they deny Jesus of Nazareth is God?

If the answer is yes to these or the other survey questions, that could indicate demonic possession.

Some say Rosenberg shouldn’t be the state’s chief evaluator of who is committed to the state’s sexual predator program at Larned State Hospital.

on edit: sorry hit the post button prematurely

That's right, the head psychological evaluator at Larnard (the state mental hospital for criminals) is looking for demons and he's armed with a survey! Demonic possession is at the heart of sexual predators in Kansas.

That he holds a position of trust requiring psychiatric expertise allowing him to decide the fates of others is a crime.

I'll hold the straightjacket if you bring the butterfly net.

Someone else should bring some "Holy Water" just in case.

13. Well, you have to consider the recent Martin Miller case
and it all becomes clear :eyes: Wasn't it Geraldine (Flip Wilson) who said "The Devil made me do it?"

Martin "Marty" Miller is the former chairman of the board of Veritas Christian School. He went on trial and was convicted a couple of months ago of murdering his wife because God doesn't believe in divorce. Oh yeah, besides that, Miller also had a girlfriend he met on the internet with whom he engaged in sexual fetishes at a home he was renting in the next town for them and their "Bible Study" sessions. He also promised to marry his mistress. Miller wasn't camera shy and had a large collection of porn on his computer of himself & his girlfriend and as well as other he had pictures downloaded from the internet.

See: http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/jun/14/jurorselectionstarts/?martin_miller_trial

But don't fear, Marty has been cured! And by another porn addicted Christian leader. I guess it was just another case of the "Devil made him do it". And people say Kansas is boring.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/jul/21/minister_who_was_addicted_porn_says_case_not_rare/

When the Rev. Darrell Brazell, an evangelical minister, first heard that police had found thousands of pornographic images on former Christian-school leader Martin K. Miller’s home computer, he wasn’t surprised.

***
Brazell knows. He admitted to being addicted to pornography for 15 years.

He said he’s met several times with (Martin) Miller, who was convicted last month of strangling his wife, Mary E. Miller, 46, a librarian at Kansas University. Brazell did not meet Marty Miller until after the man was charged with first-degree murder and was free on bond.

****
Christian men, Brazell said, are especially susceptible to becoming addicted to pornography and, consequently, masturbation.

“As a Christian, you believe that pornography and masturbation are morally wrong,” he said. “And yet, because of so many issues that we grow up with, you’re attracted to it, which causes all kinds of shame and guilt — you’re in pain.”

you're an intolerant, anti-Christian bigot? Because you think his theories about demonic possession are idiotic and/or outright loony? Sorry, but it's my duty as a thinking person to be intolerant of nutcases and morons, and their stupid ideas.

8. Where is the
smilie that shows someone with their head in their hands weeping uncontrollably?

WHO put this guy in charge?

This paragraph said it all to me...

He put down the beer, left the bar, and realized his life had changed. He said in his work as a psychologist, he’d heard people talking about their demons, but he always believed it was a manifestation of the person being psychotic.

I spent a lot of time in the locked wards at Topeka State Hospital before it closed as a nursing student. I was in the ward that held the people headed for Larned. I can't tell you how many of them said just that very thing. They all were listening to and speaking for God.

Thanks for the link, I had not gotten to your wonderful paper yet.

9. This is how Rex Rosenberg convinces juries of the soundness of
...his methods:

<snip>
No. 91,324

IN THE COURT OF APPEALS OF THE STATE OF KANSAS

In the Matter of the Care and Treatment of

RANDY A. FOSTER,

Appellant.

SYLLABUS BY THE COURT
1. Jury instructions are to be considered together and read as a whole, and where they fairly instruct the jury on the law of the case, error in an isolated instruction may be disregarded as harmless. If the instructions are substantially correct and the jury could not reasonably be misled by them, the instructions will be approved by the appellate court.

2. A timely and specific objection to the admission of evidence at trial must be made in order to preserve that issue for appeal. A party may not object at trial to the admission of evidence on one ground and then on appeal argue a different objection.

3. An appellate court may consider an issue for the first time on appeal in exceptional circumstances in order to serve the interests of justice or to prevent a denial of fundamental rights. However, such exceptional circumstances are generally reserved for constitutional issues being raised for the first time on appeal in criminal cases.

4. A commitment proceeding under the Kansas Sexually Violent Predators Act, K.S.A. 59-29a01 et seq., is civil in nature rather than criminal.

5. A two-step analysis is applied to allegations of prosecutorial misconduct. First, the court decides whether the prosecutor's comments were outside the wide latitude allowed in discussing the evidence. Second, the court must decide whether the comments constitute plain error; that is, whether the statements were so gross and flagrant as to prejudice the jury against the defendant and deny the defendant a fair trial, requiring reversal.

6. Ordinarily an appellate court will consider only such questions as are specifically pointed out and discussed by counsel, and the court will not search through a record for the sake of finding error.

Appeal from Douglas District Court; JACK A. MURPHY, judge. Opinion filed March 18, 2005. Affirmed.

Jessica R. Kunen, of Lawrence, for appellant.

Nola F. Wright, assistant attorney general, and Phill Kline, attorney general, for appellee.

Before HILL, P.J., MALONE and GREENE, JJ.

11. It took a while on the first one
but it finally came up. I didn't have as much problem with pulling up the second link.

The second one has the "usual" questions, like sex with a succubus? sex with an incubus; whether you deny the existence of God - you know the usual things one would find on a psychological intake form.

I had to go let the dogs out in the backyard so I'm not sure how long it took. I was gone for more than 5 minutes though.

17. I' m sure we're not the only ones looking
There's a lot of people locally that are trying to look at that link. Right now we're at the time on Sunday when slackers like me are logging on and the Christians are getting home from church. That's a lot of stress on the servers at the local newspaper/ISP.

18. According to this survey, we're all sexual predators
Some of the questions are so generic that anyone who has ever had sex has to answer yes. (One is "have you ever used drugs or medications of any kind to enhance sexual performance?" which you'd have to answer yes to if you've ever taken Viagra.)

Other behaviors you'd have to be a bona fide Sex Fiend to have done.

And then there's my favorite: "Any other sexual behaviors not mentioned." Seeing as how there's shit on this list I've never even heard of before, and I consider myself a good well-rounded Deviated Prevert, you'd have to be into some seriously kinky shit to be able to answer that one!

19. Ya know, I just read in the NYT that......
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 07:21 PM by Mob Mama
the late Rev. Mychal Judge, who lost his life on 9/11 after giving last rites to firefighters, was in fact homosexual. A homosexual that many had branded as a saint. One who prayed with the poor, the homeless, the AIDS-stricken. This has apparently opened up a pandora's box regarding (what else) gays in the catholic community.

I am so f-ing tired of fundies equating homosexuality to pedophilia. They have nothing to do with the other!!! Grrrr.....
