8. I don't think that's so "freepy" |
|
I think most Americans are very ignorant of the concept/reality of Posse Comitatus and the ramifications of its elimination. I also believe that the revocation of Posse Comitatus was a major underlying goal of the slow response to Katrina...to help advance this notion that the agencies charged with protecting us for so long are somehow no longer able to do so, and therefore we need the military patroling our streets, as the only viable alternative to a feeble FEMA. This is just a part of BushCo's larger, long-term goals.
As much as they decry the sad state of public education, that is also a smokescreen, for they depend upon ignorant masses to advance their agenda. The thing the republicans fear most is an educated electorate. That is why their own kids must be indoctrinated via private religious school vouchers, while those too poor to afford the half of the tuitions not covered by their vouchers, will continue to be fed a crapola, empty version of American history, devoid of any meat.

13. I agree..and now that the National Guard in is Iraq..they do not see the |
|
difference betweent he National Guard and the military. That the National Guard was ALWAYS a part of a National Emergency they just lump the military into the National Guard. A VERY BIG MISTAKE!

22. I have no problems with the National Guard taking the lead or a |
|
leading position. They are of the people and usually from the locality, state or region where they are helping.
The reserves and regular military should be in a backup role only and should not have the ability to act like law enforcement except in the truly extreme situations enumerated in the Posse Comitatus Act.

Myself, I would prefer that areas in need of federal assistance have a much beefed up and properly staffed FEMA that reports to the president and has the authority to order in military assistance as needed for rescue operations, evacuations to restore order. But, just to have the military move in and establish martial law, that's way too extreme as a matter of routine policy IMHO!

|
The MILITARY should NOT get control in disasters.
The NATIONAL GUARD should.
There is a difference.

12. I know. We're smarter than that. |

:)
I was thinking of the uninformed masses, the ones who don't know the difference.
I'm so tired of these polls - how they frame the question to skew the results.

6. Most ignorants will vote yes. |

They do not understand the Constitutional problems with this. It's sounds reasonable in spite of the fact that a learned person knows better. This is why Constitutional issues should never be decided by a majority.

14. Trying to deflect blame from FEMA. After all the money spent |
|
on Homeland Security and FEMA reorganization, "natural disaster just too big for them to handle". Well, when the money is dumped into paying incompetants and private companies, you bet. Need to make sure our Congress people know that we don't support a military take over. That's what this is. Bush can declare anything he wants a disaster or "event of significance" and can use the DoD.

17. It's a trick question. The nation guard should be one of the first in |
|
and they are military. But they are not the military that I think this is referring to. It's another one of those polls that don't make any sense.
