EVERY DUer needs to check out this site....
Ok, kids, forget about your flash-animations, and Internet-driven information for a bit!

Go to the Prelinger archives and listen to and watch the message from the 1940s and 50s liberals who were a part of FDR and FDR-inspired projects, the "radicals" of the 60s (and lots of other things too). It's a RICH RICH resource. Watch these on your computer at home.

----------------
The Prelinger Archives
Prelinger Archives remains in existence, holding approximately 4,000 titles on videotape and a smaller collection of film materials acquired subsequent to the Library of Congress transaction. Its goal remains to collect, preserve, and facilitate access to films of historic significance that haven't been collected elsewhere. Included are films produced by and for many hundreds of important US corporations, nonprofit organizations, trade associations, community and interest groups, and educational institutions.

See the films broken down by keyword at:
http://www.archive.org/mediatypes-browse.php?mediatype=movies&collection=prelinger

10. Don't miss the clips on those evil, evil, LOOTERS!

...and VANDALS burning trash in the streets!

http://www.archive.org/details/tmp_38822

"This amateur film was obviously taken just right after the Japanese surrenders, and the jubilatious celebrations on the streets of everytown America (In this instance, it looks to me like San Fransisco). We first see a flurry of newspaper headlines, then some tickertape flying in the air. We then realize what has just happened. This amateurish footage has not only people hanging out of their cars celebrating (man, things don't change..) but also, has a negative side to it, as we see vandalism and looting! In 1941! "

42. If you build it they will come...
just be sure to put "Tom Cruise" in the title. :-)

But seriously, if you have a favorite or one you think to provocative, why not try posting an invite to view it, wait a day, and then restart the thread with an opening opinion if someone doesn't jump in first?

Sounds like it's at least worth a try.

Again, that is one terrific site you've shared with us here.

21. Wikipedia on Keating - it's way too long to excerpt in a sentence or two
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Keating

Suffice to say, he attacks "indecency" because he doesn't realize what "decency" is.

31. the phrase "outstanding news reporter" isn't on that page so far as I see
Are you sure you're reading the right one? lol Or have I gone blind in my old age?

There is this fairly extensive quote:

In September 1990, Keating was criminally charged with having duped Lincoln's customers into buying worthless junk bonds of American Continental Corporation; he was convicted in state court in 1992 of fraud, racketeering and conspiracy and received a 10 year prison sentence. In January 1993, a federal conviction followed, with a 12 and a half year sentence. He spent four and a half years in prison, but both sentences were eventually overturned.

((The latter because he had friends in high places.))
