Does the RW want us to hate Bush - distracting us from their real agenda?
Do they want Bush & Co. to be a lightning rod for hatred from the left, so that their true agenda can slowly and inevitably push forward?

4. Might protect Republicans 2006 & maybe sympathy while they ease him out
Republicans are starting to consider him a liability and a lame duck or worse.

Also, do you think there is a possibility they are laying the groundwork for easing him out by playing the sympathy card, as in the Nat. Enq. story on his drinking?
