Until this past weekend I thought DUers were the best. |
|
Now all of that is behind me and I now know it in my heart. Will you indulge me a little while I share part of my weekend in DC with you?
I went to the breakfast meet up and as soon as I mentioned the words DU, to my husband, several people immediately jumped in and said hi! We had the best breakfast and please excuse me, since I am so bad at remembering names, but someone brought disposable cameras and offered them to everyone! She said she did not need to be reimbursed if anyone did not have the money.
Mr. Scorpio was met up with us at the end. He kept us laughing and said as long as he kept doing that he has done his job. Mr. Scorpio, mission accomplished!
The kindness of the DUers really came out at the march. While we were waiting we experienced the real kindness of DUers. At one point I was asking my husband to find some place to buy a cold drink for us. Immediately someone stepped forward and produced a water bottle out of their backpack. They would not accept money for it. This happened two different times with two different Duers. Neither time were we involved in a conversation with anyone else. Both times someone just heard us and joined in to offer water. My kids really appreciated the water folks, so thank you very much for the kindness you showed us.
One DUer showed up with brownies to share with everyone. They were very good and obviously someone took the time to make them at home. What a wonderful gesture.
One final gesture came when we were trying to figure out how far along the route we had walked. Our poor children kept asking, over and over, when the march would be finished. Lynne went ahead and pulled out her map. She even gave it to us and told us to keep it! We said that was not necessary but she insisted. (Lynne, if you want your map back, I did keep it and can send it to you!)
I had the best time meeting my fellow Duers. I felt so much positive energy and so much unity. It was a good experience made even better by the people I shared it with. Thanks, DU.

You can get anything you want.........;) :hi: DancingBear!
Edit I never really knew if those two things actually went together but that was my first thought, the restaurant. I was never able to make it all the way through the movie.

Bismark the gagging Doberman, a sleeping bag, a wagon and the Pearl Alley Laundromat.
It is well worth the wait - trust me.

I love a good story, especially if they involve gagging Dobermans! Does it go along with the train story?

My kids were good but they did not make it all the way! I still feel like I accomplished much by teaching them about protest and participating in it as well. I had the best time and it was great meeting everyone.

10. Glad you had a wonderful experience!!! |

However you title seems a bit off. It reads as if up until this weekend you thought DUers were the best then not so good afterwards. Just my impression.
just my two cents.
