In the highly unlikely case those spooks really exist, I would think they'd be happy to see the charitable and passionate response to the damage done to New Orleans.

Marie Leveau, the celebrated "Witch Queen", was a devout Christian as well as an adherent of Voudon, who often told her followers to be kind and charitable, as Jesus before them taught. How would her shade respond to the effort to save New Orleans? The Juju would be quite good.

But spirits almost certainly don't exist. Superstition plus stress is a formula for trouble. We have an excellent example of that in the White House (who is often away from the White House).
