it should get your tax exemption lifted.
But, this administration doesn't hold much with laws, unless they involve executions or tax cuts.

8. No - but we can discuss the anti-liberty part without going into penalties |
|
I for one think America has just lost its head do to nefariousness of the leaders political arm. It is such a shame if you redo all the laws in your country to reflect people who lie & don't follow the meaning of the laws.
Very sad when you have to rebuild your world from scratch to get control over things that used to be controlled by morals & human empathy.
But I guess - you have to change some laws. Personally - I wouldn't change the religious donation laws. Those are not the problem. It is the the morals & actions of the politicos. Those campaign finance and cabals to undo regulation that need some work.

9. I don't know what you mean |
|
I was not referring "religious donation" laws.
The Constitution calls for the separation of Church and State, and from that, the IRS exemption from taxation is drawn.
I don't really follow your post, sorry.

16. I meant that churches do good works. They do. They need to tax |
|
exemptions. The minister & his family are not living high off the hog unless they are famous or have a mega church. In those cases - yes - people should start to pay taxes and such. Unless they direct all the money to a charity that does more than simply promote them & their political agenda.
You cannot penalize the little churches that are working their asses off to make life better for people in their community & give a home to many who are down & out.
Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Just because some church leaders attack what liberals hold dear - doesn't mean we should attack all churches and their members.

17. How do you get that I'm "attacking churches"? |
|
That was hardly what I wrote.
Sorry, but we are a republic that is beholden to a Constitution, not organizations that do good works. And I happen to believe in the Constitution a lot more than anyone's god.

18. Fact is a democracy does not give every group "exactly what they |
|
want". Thinking like that is what convinces the rich they shouldn't pay taxes and be a part of the greater community.
If you want to fall into the "hate trap" set up between the church & liberals - go ahead.
I just happen to believe that in a democracy you should not expect to have everything "just so" according to your views. You should expect a certain amount of what you need. And you should expect to be reminded every day - that you live in a compromise.

23. Blind faith will get you killed |
|
On one of his live disks, in a 1985 concert, Springsteen introduces the song "War" talking about VietNam. He ends it the intro by telling the young people in the audience who will have to fight next time to remember that:
"Blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed."
- Bruce Springsteen (1985)

that the only way you can get people to think for themselves is by pointing out that one particularly bad way of not thinking for themselves that they want to cling to runs counter to another different particularly bad way of not thinking for themselves that they also want to cling to.
