Iraqi police briefly detained two undercover soldiers in the southern city last Monday before British troops freed them. The incident has harmed the relationship British forces were able to build with local Iraqis in and around Basra, a relatively stable city compared with other parts of Iraq.

It wasn't more than a couple of months ago that a group of kids getting candy from US soldiers was mowed down by suicide bombers...

It's not hard to see WHY the insurgents do it, either...

It is very easy to see children as informants, spies and collaborators - it is a tactic that has been used since the dawn of freakin' time!!!
