8000 troops not coming home on schedule - 7 to 10 days longer

Some U.S. troops in Iraq got some unwanted news Friday from the Pentagon.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has extended the duty of about 8,000 U.S. troops scheduled to come home from Iraq in January.

Rumsfeld’s spokesman Lawrence Di Rita said the troops -- all from active-duty units -- will be kept an average of seven to 10 days longer to avoid a hand-off to their replacements in the immediate aftermath of the Iraqi elections scheduled for December.

Rumsfeld approved the tour extensions Thursday night.

1. I am sure they are delighted for the extra vacation time in Iraq
Wonder how many of those will die or suffer
serious damage during this little extension in hell.

Extending the deployment of U.S. troops in Iraq at the last minute is the exact OPPOSITE of that!
