The Top Ten Stupid And Annoying Things I Hear Freepers Say...
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 03:24 PM by DistressedAmerican

after the homophobic and threat filled ranting that is.

10)"You liberals are so filled with hate!"

No asshats, we are filled with disgust. We love our country and we are disgusted that is has been taken over by power crazed, warmongers who loot our treasuries and kill by the tens or hundreds of thousands. Our founding fathers abhorred imperialism. They fought and died opposing it and you freeps embrace it and try to wrap it in a flag.

9)"Soldiers died defending your right to come out here and protest!"

That's right they did. That is a great sacrifice that we honor by expressing our dissent when the government begins abusing those making the sacrifice. Jefferson said it best, "God forbid we should ever go 20 years without such a rebellion." He understood that citizens in the streets were the only real check on government corruption.

8)"The soldiers will be demoralized by your protests!"

The soldiers are are being demoralized by fighting and dying in a war to disarm an unarmed man. They fight more for their lives and those of their brothers and sisters in arms than for the propaganda goals of the Bush regime.

7) "Only hippie freaks support these events!"

Bullshit! There were people of all races, ages, genders, religions and economic backgrounds on the ground in DC. Your freep-a-thon was mostly middle aged white men. Probably no Buddhists there supporting continued killing. Didn't see many minorities our there with y'all. That in case you are too slow to understand is because they are the ones doing the fighting and dying in this illegal and immoral fiasco.

6) "You always forget about the horrors of September 11th!"

Not al all. We wanted Osama "brought to justice" just as your president promised the nation. More than 4 years later he is nowhere to be found. Maybe we should have done Bush's first war right before rushing off to Bush war number 2?

5)"You love Saddam!"

Bullshit. The whole world hated Saddam. You have no freaking monopoly on that. However, Bush lied us into a war for regime change. While regime change was the law enacted under Clinton, he and others in Congress were smart enough to keep the threat contained and to work for change. That law does not call for the violent invasion of Iraq. Although you must wish very badly it did. You keep claiming it was the Clinton policy. No asshats, this is the Bush regime's mess and theirs alone.

4) "You people support the terrorists!"

No, the vast majority of us were pleased to see us retaliate for the September 11th attacks by hitting Afghanistan's ruling Taliban and Al Qaeda. Sadly, that was just a show. Bush was so obsessed with Poppy's arch enemy, Saddam that Afghanistan remains largely in the hands of the Taliban warlords and the very terrorist organization that ACTUALLY ATTACKED US AND STILL POSE A VERY REAL THREAT. Bush sold our security out from under us and freeps are too brainwashed to even see it.

3)"If you hate this country so much, why don't you leave?"

You have it all wrong asshats. We love this country. We are sickened and disgusted to see what you bible banging fundies are doing to it and we intend to stick around to kick you back into the political obscurity you emerged from.

2) "The 60's are over!"

Yes, yes they are. Sadly, we are called upon again to fight an neo-imperialist power grab overseas. Thank God that these abusive administrations only come along every 30 or 40 years. I look forward to a rest after we kick this batch out and restore the political balance in America.

1) "Get a job!"
We have jobs asshats. How do you think we manage to go to all of these protest events? Most are held on weekends. Your lame ass excuse (we have jobs and those hippies do not)for low turnout at freep rallies is utter nonsense. Freeps just do not care.

HEY EVERYBODY LOOK AT ALL OF THE FILTHY, JOBLESS HIPPIES!

24. Some Jefferson
"A little rebellion now and then is a good thing." Thomas Jefferson,
letter to James Madison, 1787-1-30.

"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid
of government is tyranny!" -- Thomas Jefferson

"And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not
warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a
century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to
time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural
manure." Thomas Jefferson to W.S. Smith, 1787-11-13.

"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain
occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive." Thomas Jefferson

"It is error alone which needs the support of government.
Truth can stand by itself." Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826),
"Notes on Virginia", Query XVII.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free ... it expects what never
was and never will be." -- Thomas Jefferson

"Feed your head." "White Rabbit", Jefferson Airplane

Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 03:16 PM by Caution
http://www.monticello.org/library/reference/quotes.html

Where the Jefferson Library states the following:

Unconfirmed and Incorrectly Attributed Quotes

There are a number of quotes that we do not find in Thomas Jefferson's correspondence or other writings; in such cases, Jefferson should not be cited as the source. Among the most common of these spurious Jefferson quotes are:

* "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."
* "We should build an aristocracy of achievement based on a democracy of opportunity."
* "An informed citizenry is the bulwark of a democracy…"
* "Information is the currency of democracy."
* "A nation is as good as its values…"
* There is nothing more unequal than the equal treatment of unequal people."
* "When the government fears the people, there is liberty; When the people fear the government, there is tyranny."
* "I have nothing but contempt for anyone who can spell a word only one way."
* "I am a big believer in luck. The harder I work, the more I have."

In other cases, quotes are often attributed to Jefferson but were actually said by others:

* "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." (John Philpot Curran)
* "Those who sacrifice freedom for safety deserve neither." (Benjamin Franklin)
* "That government is best which governs least." (Henry David Thoreau)
* "I am a revolutionary so my son can be a farmer so his son can be a poet." (John Adams)

28. great post - thanks for it
The following "Jefferson saying" actually appears in correspondence from John Adams (my much-under-appreciated personal hero) to Jefferson, but the quote is in Adams' letter:
"An informed citizenry is the bulwark of a democracy…"

Adams may well be quoting someone else, though. :)

5. "Get a job"
This is the one that really bugs me. I have a job but millions of highly trained and educated Americans do not...thanks the Mr. Bush's policies.

It's not hatred to say that Bush is an ABJECT FAILURE. This is the same attitude that a 3rd grader takes on when they explain an "F" on their report card with, "That teacher hates me!" Maybe so Junior but that doesn't change the fact that you can't add two and two!

dogging the university president for a conflict of interest thing....
i was taking 15 hours and working 2 parttime jobs that added up to about 40 hours a week. On top of this, I organized this protest. We were following the University President along the parade route with signs and handing out flyers (that we had paid for printing at Kinkos) and this guy with a beer belly on a lawn chair looks over at me and says (and he was serious) "Get a job!" Man I was so pissed, I was so fucking exhausted from working and putting every extra second into being a citizen. Fucking dumb fuck. he was "enjoying his weekend" and I was ruining it for him with all my activism and citizenship. Too bad, fuckhead.

Okay.... I have to, ironically enough, go to work.

on edit: I was only taking 15 hours that semester, not 18... that was another semester.

Actually I'm bookmarking your responses. They are short, sweet and right on. It kills me whenever these freeper talking points come up and these right wing creeps think they are being original.

I normally call them on their blind allegiance to limbaugh, o'reilly, etc. and ask them for their thoughts on the matter. They can't do it for the most part. They are parrots without brains. And even when confronted with the facts, they continue to spew their crap.

Anyway thanks for putting them down in such a well-organized way.

31. "Freedom isn't free!"
by which they always seem to mean: shut up and eat your fascism. don't exercise your freedom or it will be taken away from you.

They always appear to think they've said something profound (and something of which you were unaware) when they emit this idiotic slogan. It seems to have no content, sort of like a wordless grunt from a caveman. You can get vertigo and a nosebleed peering over the edge of its bottomless void trying to make out a meaning. Obviously it's intended to cut off dissenting opinion or questioning, and somehow this silencing cudgel is supposed to be rooted in "freedom" and respect for freedom. If that's what they truly mean, then they have no meaningful concept behind the term freedom except unquestioning obedience, which is freedom's opposite.

34. Um...I Have A Sticker on My Previa that says: Freedom isn't Free...
...given to me by the Disable American Veterans group (their logo is prominently shown on said sticker) to whom I contribute every month (along with VFW and Paralyzed Veterans of America), but I read it differently than Freepers do.
Our Vets are under constant attack by Republican governments who try to cut their more than well-deserved benefits for the injuries they've suffered in wars they were sent to fight for the U.S.
Even those troops today were under budget cut attacks by this inept regime in the WH and Congress, until Democrats blocked them from carrying out their, imho, heinous greed.
So when Freepers say "Freedom isn't Free" to bolster their empty patriotism, I ask them, "How much have YOU given to American Veterans every month? Did you put your money where your big mouth is?"
Of course they answer that they do, but I always discover (through talking with their kids who aren't of their parents' political persuasion these days) that like everything else most Repubs and Fascists do and say, it's nothing but a bunch of hot, empty air.
As a liberal Democrat, I am against any war of aggression against another country, but I do my part in supporting those troops who return hurt, injured and forgotten by so-called patriots, and all-around yellow-legged hypocrites which, not surprisingly, can all be found to be of the "republican" persuasion.

hear your neighbor abuse their wife/child/pet? No. I would call the authorities and take other actions necessary to stop the abuse.

...this is my answer to #3: "If you hate this country so much, why don't you leave?"

I may sometimes feel very, very angry at country that is abusing its own citizens and people around the world -- the moral action to take is not 'to leave'. It is to stop the abuse.

But the sad reality is, I am an average, (almost) middle-aged, middle class, married, stay-at-home-mom. I own a minivan with two car seats fer chrissake. My husband and I are also small business owners. My husband is an ex-republican, and even more conservative looking than I (he had a blast at the rally, BTW).

Yet at the rally this past weekend, we were called both hippie and communist. Not that there is anything wrong with being those things, but anyone with an even a teensy grasp on reality can see that we are neither.

It would scare them too much to realize who the anti-war, anti-bush movement really are so they call us names and try to pretend that we are all a bunch of radicals.

Today I saw a bumper sticker that said "Who would Osama vote for??" Well, I think we can all, unequivocally say in answer to that question, George W. Bush!!! What other president in modern history would have let that bastard run free? What a gift!!! Osama picked the perfect place in history to execute his murderous plan. Assuming, of course, that he was the one truly behind the attacks on the WTC.

57. Hippies are Communists!
Then they say Hippies are lazy!

Therefore

Communists are lazy?? I always used that as a comeback in the 60's.

58. My pet peeves are these
1: you can't be a christian unless your a republican,
wake up and smell the coffee please. Jesus himself rode a donkey into jerusalem.
2: you can't be against the war and support the troops
I have spent seventy dollars so far this year on phone cards and have voluntered 10 weekends at the va. and I always thank a soldier when I see him.

3: Dems are cowards - yeah than why dont you enlist
4: Thier should be one religion
5: I am not a communist I am an american
6: If sean hannity is a christian how come he interrupted a hospice?
7: People want to be poor
Theres more but its really late and I am tired.

59. It always annoys me when I hear them bitch and whine about

the librul (or librul controlled) media. What they really want to say is if the media isn't echoing their views then it's part of a leftist conspiracy.

60. Re point number 5
During the 80s, there were plenty of lefties writing their congresscritters to demand that loans and other aid to Saddam be cut off on humanitarian grounds. Congress listened, and passed resolutions doing that, but Reagan and Bush the 1st vetoed them. And now we get told by a claque of human vegetables that couldn't be bothered to put down their remotes long enough to do the same that we "love Saddam."

Also, in 2003 Iraq's neighbors were trying to arrange exile for Saddam and sons plus other leading members of the regime. Bushler promptly announced that the invasion was on even if he left! Here's a clue for the sociopathic shitstains--Saddam would have been just as gone had the exile plan succeeded.

61. Oh, I just love #1
OK, I'm in college, but I do have a summer job, one in which I bust my butt to get enough hourly pay to last me the entire school year.

*gets out one of my paystubs*

Regular Pay 95 hours (worked on trades with other workers; trades get paid as straight time per union contract)

22 hours OT

17 hours double time

HEY FREEPS! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WORKED 134 HOURS IN A PAY PERIOD!?

Seriously, I need to carry this paystub with me at all times. I have a few other good ones too.
