Millions homeless, but it's a perfect photo-op
Habitat for Humanity is pre-building houses to draw attention, and it's great...BUT our smarmedia types are just using the whole event to "spotlight" their own news-reader-celebs and the famous who show up.. They could have used this event as a springboard to highlight the good work that this organization does, instead of just making it a "stunt"..

What's being missed here, is that even if the pre-fabbed homes arrive on flatbed trucks in a few weeks, where will they be put?? Would you let your kids play on, walk on, sit on the soil that will surround these homes??

Where will the parents in these homes work? Where will the kids go to school? Where will the money for furnishings come from?

How do they decide WHO gets a house, and who gets a FEMA trailer/tent?

There are big things that need to be reported on, and leave it to our press to spend their time interviewing each other and "People-izing" a catastrophy of enormous proportions..

1. Good point, SoCal. Was watching the Habitat House in NYC
and the media keep focusing on the "celebrities dropping by" to pound a few nails. I was glad to see the effort (Time-Warner and something else is sponsoring it)

But, on the other hand, I thought to myself that since it's all commercial these days and it makes them feel good to build their "celebrity habitats" then what the hell.

I'm glad to see some humanity creeping into M$M Coverage these days. We've had nothing but greed, and more greed. Maybe these folks will turn this into an outpouring to help fellow Americans and after all look at all the states who tried to send aid to NYC to help folks out..and the Red Cross desposed of the blood and the food rotted on the streets.

But, I understand what you say..about the shallowness..but still maybe the shallowness will grow into something better than the Bush Example of GREED CORRUPTION DEVASTATION.

I have to hope anyway... Given the way things are going...none of us are going to be immune in the coming years from some disaster.
