Medea just now arrested live? Not arrested with Cindy?
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 04:12 PM by tyedyeto
That means she was not arrested when Cindy was, I take it. Cindy was arrested 3 hours ago and they are saying that this arrest was live a few minutes ago.

Keep them coming peace organizers.

1. From what I get from United for Peace and Justice...
The people willing to be arrested are coming in waves, with various organizations leading each wave. Soo the whole process is going to take a long time.

3. So the 1st ammendment is now null and void?
We used to have a right to demonstrate in this country.

6. We need to define it as peaceably assemble
Since that is the wording in OUR constitution.

8. Even a peaceful demonstration can require a permit...
per Supreme Court decision in Thomas v. Chicago Park District, 2002.

13. Define assemble and demonstration.
Do both words have the same meaning?

We should not be 'demonstrating', just peaceably assembling. By so many people using the word demonstration, our 1st amendment rights are shut down.

10. No one is stopping you from protesting on your property..
When you have a protest on city/public property, however, that is when you need a permit.

I'd imagine that security is a little higher when you're near the White House too.

It's not a big scandal or anything. They were warning three times before being arrested anyways.

11. The White House IS my property
It's yours too.

Do I need a permit to go up to the WH fence and say "Bush Sucks"? According to your analysis, I do.

1:45pm Park police are arresting those sitting down in front of the White House, for not moving. 100-150 protestors are getting arrested one-by-one and put in police vans. There's double that amount of bystanders, including some old people getting knocked around, from those shoving to see better. Cindy Sheehan was one of those arrested.

12:10pm A march is en route to Lafayette park where some marchers will commit some sort of non-violent direction action, civil disobedience. They expect to be at Lafayette Park by 12:45-1pm and commence their action immediately, says an organizer with the march.

"Pentagon Metro closed due to a police situation." 25 Activists arrested at the Pentagon this morning in a direct action. More
"Forty of us were arrested this morning for shutting down two entrances to the Pentagon. This was the largest arrest at the Pentagon since the beginning of the 'War on Terrorism.'" Frida Berrigan, War Resisters League
