David Gregory calls * MR. Bush instead of Pres., 6 or 7 times tonight |
|
on the evening news. Reporting on bush's efforts to fix his reputation. He kept saying Mr. Bush, Mr. Bush, Mr. Bush. Never once referred to him as president. Loved it!

Bush's insistence that he be called "Mr.President" is so very childish and reeks of basic insecurity. What a sorry excuse for a leader!

29. You're correct. It depends on news organization style. |
|
Some go with Mr. President, some with Mr. Bush and some with President Bush. It depends on their editorial board's set style.
For example, I worked for a newspaper who referred to everyone after first reference as Mr., Mrs. or Ms. Soandso. However, if they had been convicted of a felony, they were no longer afforded the courtesy title and simply were referred to on second reference by their last name. I covered courts and crime, so I knew this like the back of my hand. It was weird, but, hey, I didn't set the policy. :)

38. it's a perfectly respectable form of address |
|
why not call him Mr. Bush? If it was good enough for Mr. Washington, Mr. Lincoln, Mr. Roosevelt (take you pick which one) it should be good enough for him.
Although to be fair, since he likes to give people nicknames I wouldn't hold it against one of the recipients if they nicknamed him back.

only when I'm in a situation when calling him the Pretzel-Dunce or President Potty Stop or Georgie The Smirking Chimp or Georgie or Bush will offend people too much to get what I have to say about him across. The day of the selection, I vowed to never refer to him as the president.

36. That used to really irk me when they did that to Clinton. Clinton |
|
was a good President. They hated him for personal reasons, not because he was bankrupting our country, killing our soldiers for oil, creating more terrorists, murdering innocent people in Iraq, running up record deficits, ruining the economy...all of which this evil bastard and his evil friends are doing. I think this "President" is a fake, he's not a legitimate Prez; his whole administration is fake too.
In these times, he doesn't deserve to be called by the title. David Gregory is right to call him by his name. I call him worse.
