Ok, not really, but I hope he can find time to bash Bush and praise the hundreds of thousands of protestors out this weekend.
Oh and United for Peace and Justice who most idiots keep forgetting co-hosted the event.

I am so sick of this site lately. You would think jsut having a huge protest where we rallied everyone from the far left to the center together people would be happy. Nope, I feel like Im on the set of Bill O'reilly or Rush Limbaugh..half the time I post here I wonder if half the people are plants.I'll come back when all the McCarthyism hysteria dies down.

you can pick on ANSWER? So what if the vast majority of people were there because of Cindy, because of UFPJ? Those damn commies with their ISSUES were spoiling somebody's parade. I agree with you, it is pathetic. On the other hand if its only 1/2 the time, and if only 1/2 of the posters are plants - thats 3/4 genuine people :-)
Stick around. Fight the 'bad protest' meme with me.

Not hardly. I wouldn't hang out with the Freepers if you paid me. I just have some problems with ANSWER. It doesn't mean I like Limbaugh or O'Reilly. I cannot stand neocons. They are a bunch of fascists, & I don't want my country run by fascists. But I'm a realist. Our side isn't perfect, either. We have people on our side who could be just as horrible as the neocons if given the chance. I don't want to get rid of one dictatorship only to see it replaced by another. This country has seen enough pain & death. Time for it to stop.

The "Is bad cus off ANSUR" crowd need to take some chill pills or sponser their own fucking giant march.

33. Seems You Have The Reactionaries Mixed Up. The Reactionaries |
|
are the ones who refuse to identify a problem and stick with things that don't work or are counterproductive.
Apparently, one can't celebrate the successful turn out and the March and ALSO cricique ANSWER's Rally which is what got televised.
Apparently, pointing out a problem is not allowed on DU and many DUer's would rather live in denial.
Apparently, too many DU'ers have such low expectations of the Left, that we can't imagine organizing a March and Rally without ANSWER.
Who exactly are the Reactionaries here?

29. Obviously, Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh don't bother you as much |
|
as DU does. Now I cannot listen to Limbaugh anymore. Makes me physically ill. Haven't watched the hypocrite O'Reilly since before the loopha. Of course, they believe in what Lennon said about "Useful Idiots." Very fitting for them.
So are you a member of A.N.S.W.E.R.? Just wondering. That whole protest except the first 40 minutes of speakers spoke of nothing but the Palestinians, Haitians, Cubans, etc. Not one Jewish speaker except for a man who was Jewish but pro Palestinian. I found that interesting.
I got so angry with this bunch, I turned it off.
That is not what that protest was about. Thankfully the majority of the protesters had signs against the War, supporting our troops, impeach Bush, and the lies he used to start a war.
I'm glad I didn't see any signs regarding Palestinian terrorist (PLO with Arafat as their leader killing the Israeli athletes at the Olympics in Germany is the one that sticks in my mind) who supposedly have been occupied for over 60 years. No one has stopped them from leaving. They just refuse to do so and that is by their own choice.
No one ever hears about how the Israelis allow them to come into Israel so a lot of them could get an education as well as let them come into Israel to work at a job so they can support their families. No one ever brings that up.
They are still killing innocent people even after Sharon gave them the Gaza strip, (which they lost trying to kill every Jew in the small nation of Israel), who we are building 5,000 homes for on the Gaza strip for them (well, some of our money anyway). We give them money just like Israel (but we do give Israel quit a bit more), but Arafat decided his wife in Paris needed it more than his people and himself living in squalor. I found it odd that Arafat's wife was screaming to the media that some of the other Palestinian leaders were trying to kill her husband. Basically, they had not agreed to the terms of the money. It wasn't very long after the agreement was announced did Arafat die. She gets $2 million dollars a month support. Still stealing the Palestinians blind (well, taking OUR money that we give to them)
(stepping down off soapbox).
Sorry for the outburst, but I hate to see you leave blaming it on McCarthyism. You are aware of PNAC? That is scarier to me than so-called McCarthyism in a protest.
Peace.

34. Did you watch CSPAN? Because those of us who did were treated to a |
|
Pro-Palestinian rally rather than a Cindy speaks for me, impeach Bush and get the fuck out of Iraq rally.
I'm not saying which way or the other I come down on the issue of Palestine/Israel...that is a conversation for another day.
I'm saying that at no point did anybody that I know who went to DC, or anybody on DU in general that I can recall leading up to this rally never once mentioned Palestine as part of the reason they were going. However, that is nearly all I witnessed on CSPAN. And yes, it pissed me off.
Just my two cents.

That's how alot of us feel when Democrats sponsor a good bill or make a great speech and are met with the same kind of shit YOU are getting met with on ANSWER. And Malloy is often the leader.
Chronic Malcontents who REFUSE to focus on the message and get caught up in sideshows instead.
Now maybe some of you know what the rest of us have been trying to say for several years now.

And it is a rightwing talking point. What else can they do? They put up at best 400 to our, by the lowest estimate 100,000. So the Bad Protestor Meme is being propagated and as usual many here on DU, wittingly or not, are helping to get that meme out there.

Answer, one of the two groups who did the grunt work of organizing the demonstrations this weekend, is absolutely a marxist organization and brings lots of extraneous issues to all of these events. So you go to protest the carnage in Iraq and the ANSWER folks are protesting about palestine, and they want to free somebody named mumia, and on and on. Big Fucking Deal. The Vegans were there too protesting about pig slaughter and handing out really bad cookies. I'll get concerned about answer when they start trying to tell me what sign I can or cannot hold or what words I can or cannot say. They appear to have no such intentions, and I refuse to censor them in exchange. Plus THEY ORGANIZE THE DEMONSTRATIONS. So all the whiners can STFU until they start doing the organization.
Oh - and UFPJ, which has no smorgasbord of issues other than getting us out of Iraq, was by far the majority partner on Saturday. Not that one could tell from the carping posters here.

That's the issue that people have: that the message got completely screwed.
If you are going to get 1/4 of a million people at a march, the least you could do is stay on message.

Answer had their own little stage with nobody listening to them. UFPJ had their huge stage with tons of people listening to them. The message at the big rally was all about Iraq. Plus they had music. It rocked.
Answer gets to have a stage because they did the work and got a permit and put up the bond etc. They did not take over anything. Stop feeding the Bad Protestor Meme. Its bullshit.

|
ANSWER sign on the window. I wasn't aware that the group had sponsored the bus, but it wasn't gonna stop me from getting to DC. I donate to UFPJ, and work with them locally, but I didn't give a fat rat's ass about who sponsored that bus, nor much of anything else, I was going to DC come hell or highwater. I didn't pay any attention to the speakers after George Galloway spoke as we were trying to get in line to march at that point. All I really cared about was doing my small part to take a stand against the Bush** misAdminstration, their corruption...you know the rest.
