Something you don't see everyday around here |
|
I'm registering to vote this week.
I just turned 18 on Sunday, so now I can register. I've been waiting for this for years. It's just a matter of when I can get down to the nearest RMV so that I can register and get a Mass State ID at the same time.
I filled out my selective service registration today. I never realized that my asthma only keeps me from enlisting, not from being drafted.
I felt so cheated this last election, I gave a damn and couldn't vote, and there were people that couldn't have cared less, could have voted, but didn't. Voting rights should be available to any US citizen that wants them if you ask me.
So, tomorrow after school if I can find the time, if not, Wednesday.1

I turned 18 in February--exactly three months after 11/2/2004.
I wasn't able to vote--but a girl in my politics class who THOUGHT BUSH WAS A DEMOCRAT was.
So...I feel your frustration. :banghead:

Interesting note about the asthma. I'm sorry you have to register for selective service. Think about trying to enlist, getting an official (on paper) rejection and see if it will help keep you from being drafted.

It is wonderful to know people go out and registered as soon as they possibly can. I registered on my18th birthday. It's the only lingering memory of that birthday I have -- mostly because, well, the evening was far less productive. :-)
Happy Birthday!
:woohoo:
