What's the deal with Bush and the blue shirts/ties? |
|
It seems like every time I see him on TV, he's either wearing a blue shirt (often with the shirtsleeves rolled up cause he's "workin' hard"). If it's not a blue shirt, it's a blue tie.
Do his handlers think that blue is a calming color and will make the public's blood pressure stay even when the they see him on TV? Is it a subtle: "blue = blue state = Democrat = "I care" message? If so, it's not working.
Not really important but I was wondering if anyone else had noticed. He definitely is looking worse than usual these days and his persona seems different--less cocky, more unsure, more tense, even nervous. Has he finally figured out that he's not the popular war president he thought he was? Is he upset about the huge demonstration in D.C.? Is he upset about starting to lose his base? Is he worried about the Plame investigation coming to a close and being indicted? Is he nervous about so many of his cronies being investigated for shady dealings? Is he concerned about the "Bush is drinking" rumors? Is he nervous about an upcoming evil plot by Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Co.? Or is it something else?

1. Yes, I have most certainly noticed all of the blue! |
|
and, yes the unsure posturing. He seems utterly small and cowardly now. And, much older, too!

3. It's a wardrobe/costume trick used in the film industry. Blue makes you |
|
'safe' and comfortable... reds show you as harsh. Blacks show you as evil, white means you're innocent, etc.
The Sixth Sense used red to denote danger and evil.
We lately refer to it as "forest gumping" since Forest was always, always dressed in blue in his movie.

6. Maybe they should dress him in pink |
|
Pastels are supposed to be soothing
What he really needs though is Orange as in an orange jump suite with numbers on the back.

11. Actually, it has to do with how colors photograph |
|
on TV, or at least it used to. Maybe the technology has changed by now. But men were always advised to wear a light blue shirt. White comes off as too glaring under lights, reddish colors smear out, etc. The bushies are probably manipulating symbolism too, but used to be anchormen always wore light blue.

4. It is very important. They don't allow him to dress himself. |
|
Blue is a calming color, cool. DEMOCRAT. Red is always associated with anger, "stop," rage, things like that. Before the recent troubles, Bush would never have been allowed out of the House in a blue tie. This is pure image manipulation by RoveCo. They probably even sprayed fake sweat on his shirt to make it look as if it's all "hard work."

7. Is there an explanation for the blue polka dot tie * had on at the UN? |
|
That was a weird tie. Polka dots? It was the "I don't give a shit what you think tie."
Back in the dark days of the 1980s, the Reagan Republican all wore red "power ties."

9. It is str8 out of the book(s) "Dress for Success." |
|
Research showed: Light blue shirt = People like the wearer- hold the door for them White shirt = People respect the wearer- get out of their way Blue suit = Business like & like the wearer - hold the door for them Black suit = Respect -Cold - get out of their way
If I remember right. Haven't read it since the 1970s.

13. At least, the blue shirt question: |
|
PR 101 trick used by CEOs for a long time. When the business is in the "rough", a CEO portrait is usually photographed sans jacket, with the shirt sleeves rolled up. This gives the impression that the CEO was getting down and dirty with the workers. Usually not truly done - well, in Japan, the managers would get down on the line to help out, because the honor of the company was on the line. Not so much here in the good old USA. When the going gets tough, the CEOs take their golden parachutes . . .
Now, the fact of the shirt being blue, I have no direct evidence, but it has been put forward that the blue shirt represents the "blue collar" - intimating that Bush is one of the "regular" guys . . . which he has never EVER been . . .

14. "I have no direct evidence" ... |
|
I don't either, but thats how I visualize the hardworking middle "class" working person, blue chambray shirt (with sleeves rolled up) and khakis.
As you stated he's trying to imitate "regular" guys ..." which he has never EVER been"

17. That is the new uniform all AMERICANS will have to wear every day |

of their lives. A steel blue shirt to calm outrage and put people into the "sad" phase. Red tie is too much of a bull's eye at this point.
