Dean: Bush must stand up to his oil cronies...statement, video of Bush.
View the video in Real Player if you can, the WMP is too small. Bush himself was saying the same thing about oil. Good job on this one.

Washington, DC - Today, President Bush said that given record gas prices, the American people must make sacrifices. Specifically, he said that Americans should avoid driving on trips that are “not essential” and that federal agencies should “curtail nonessential travel.” At the same time, Bush’s big oil cronies are seeing record profits and the Bush Administration refuses to take active measures to help reduce the cost of oil for America’s working families.

“President Bush should do the right thing for America’s working families and stand up to his big oil cronies who are making record profits as gas prices surge,” said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. “American families are sacrificing, and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina we are all willing to do our part. President Bush can do more to ease this growing financial burden facing our working families. While he's acknowledged that we need to be less dependent on foreign crude oil, he has failed to act and failed to lead. Democrats have a plan that puts America on the path toward energy independence and will continue to fight for the American people by putting people ahead of profits for Bush’s big oil cronies.”

The Democratic National Committee also released a new video highlighting President Bush’s failure to lead and his broken promise to combat high gas prices. This multimedia release may be viewed at:

2. And George makes a 7th belated trip to the hurricane areas.
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 12:46 PM by MissMarple
As he calls for us to delete unnecessary trips, he excludes himself because he feels a personal need to to hug hurricane and flood survivors.

It was reported that the White House said he would take fewer support vehicles with him as he flies around the country. The press and staff will have to double up in fewer bulletproof SUVs. Ah huh, big sacrifice. :eyes:

And, it was the timing, George. You can't make it up with a flurry of trips now. It's too late.
