So the MSM had zip to say about Saturday's protest in DC? Or, they mentioned that maybe 10 of us showed up? Put the lie to that. Now. Testify! Were you there? Are you telling people about it? I am. I can't seem to talk about anything else. I've already gotten at least ten people to promise they will come next time. Hell, my little village will be able to put together a bus or 2 or 3. Yesterday I was interviewed on a local college radio station for half an hour talking about the experience (WRPI, Troy, NY). The photographs we took will be seen by everyone we know. They may finally act on their beliefs just to shut us up. :-) Do you remember how many times it took to finally stop the war in Nam? So this time didn't grind the wheels to a screeching halt? Next time, One million of us. No less. As often as it takes. Don't give up! Testify!

TESTIFY
The movie ran through me The glamour subdue me The tabloid untie me I'm empty please fill me Mr.anchor assure me That Baghdad is burning Your voice it is so soothing That cunning mantra of killing I need you my witness To dress this up so bloodless To numb me and purge me now Of thoughts of blaming you Yes the car is our wheelchair My witness your coughing Oily silence mocks the legless Now traveling in coffins But on the corner The jury's sleepless We found your weakness And it's right outside our door
Now testify
With precision you feed me My witness I'm hungry Your temple it calms me So I can carry on My slaving sweating the skin right off my bones On a bed of fire I'm choking on the smoke that fills my home The wrecking ball rushing My witness your blushing The pipeline is gushing While here we lie in tombs While on the corner The jury's sleepless We found your weakness And it's right outside your door
Now testify
Mass graves for the pump and the price is set
Who controls the past now controls the future Who controls the present now controls the past Who controls the past now controls the future Who controls the present now?
Now testify

I went from protest virgin ( well, only technically, messed around a bit, never went all the way, ya know?) to protest junkie in one day. That stuff is addictive I tell ya! I hope to meet more DUers next time and you will be one of them Mr. Spock! :bounce:

3. Maybe DU should organize a protest. |
|
We already know we can raise money when we have to. If we can get DU, and maybe a few other organizations (not ANSWER, just to avoid all the controversy around them) to put something together then we can keep this going!
I was there on Saturday, I've been telling everyone I know about it, and I plan to print up some of my pictures to leave around where people will see them.

4. I would love to see someone else organize this thing |

It's awful big and very expensive for DU to take on I should think. There are many less angst causing groups and people than ANSWER. But damn, they DO make it happen. Sorry we didn't meet on Saturday, next one, OK?

5. I really don't have a problem with ANSWER... |
|
I don't agree with all of their politics, but they are one of the groups that can get this sort of thing off the ground. I only say to NOT include them in something DU might organize because I don't want half of DU sitting out because ANSWER is involved.
And yes, I would love to meet you next time. My dad and I couldn't find the DUers, but we were there!
