Is Free Republik on the ropes? |
|
I read a post yesterday to the effect that their membership was falling off and they weren't making financial goals.
True or just wishful thinking on my part?

They are a far greater threat to our democracy.
I'm not so worried about FR. What would we do without Freepers?

You mean: we need Freepers just as the repugnicons need Rove vs. Wade? Sort of like that?

Free Republic serves a useful role by giving the most extreme a place to show their real agenda.
Scares hell out of regular people!

Freepers are like slinkys.
They're completely useless, mildly entertaining, and you can't help but giggle when you see them fall down the stairs.

Actually I think you misread the post. Apparently it is not their memberships but their members that are falling off. If you get my drift. ( sorry I don't know what is wrong with me today, I am hardly ever vulgar.)

14. What's happening is their hero has turned out to be |
|
a coward. They have invested a lot of money time and emotion in bush and it appears it was a waste. They may feel foolish, hurt, betrayed. There may be doubt, there may be difficulty in justifying their devotion to bush.
It may be a very painful time for them.

17. I lurk over there and have noticed that the only posts that get any |
|
large number of posts are the ones that:
1. Give them the opportunity to flame someone for daring to voice an opinion that differs from the right wing talking points. (Other popular posting topics are pit bulls, home schooling, firearms and abortion.)
2. Link to an article that criticizes Bush or any of his appointees.
3. Link to an article that mentions Cindy Sheehan, John Kerry, Hilary Clinton or anyone who has ever opposed Bush in any way.
As much as they like to flaunt their patriotism and love of America, free speech is apparently not something that they think too highly of.

That site is nothing but a $cam; the owner/operator is running it for PROFIT.
When the rubes quit sending the bucks, the site will disappear.

up and they are peeling off in numbers. How come Bush's "Iraq Fund" only raised $600? If there were so many Freepers so Gung-Ho on this war, wouldn't they be putting their money where their stupid mouths are?
My guess is this is true, but I'd like to hear the source.

18. It was bound to happen. You can't keep banning your membership |
|
for finally having an open mind and trying to discuss the shortcomings of your party or its "leaders". They wipe those threads clean and threaten banishment to anyone not reciting the daily talking points. I wouldn't be surpised if they have some sort of online brainwashing techinique to keep them in line:
"Watch this dot on this screen. Let this voice calm you and lull you into acceptance of Rove's daily talking points..."

Atlanta lawyers, they will exist. They may not have the most robust membership, but they'll be around.
Or someone like them.
Think about it. Corsi, the Swiftboat author, is a freeper. Buckhead, the "proportional spacing" Rathergate guy, is a freeper. Coincidence?
I doubt it.

25. No, some wealthy Republican will probably give them all the $ they need |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 03:47 PM by IanDB1
KKKarl Rove will probably see to it they get a big check.
And then they will hire a firm from India to have workers spending all day writing and posting messages, using all different screen names, to make it look like there's actually traffic on the site.
Damn.
I shouldn't give them any ideas.
The right-wing has been underwriting hate radio and Fox News for years.
And I think I just heard that Rush Limbaugh (or was it O'Reilly?) has lost 60% of their radio audience since Bush was selected.
They really need to elect a Democrat for president if they want to boost their ratings.
I'm surprised Limbaugh and O'Reilly aren't donating big money to the DNC.
Damn.
Again, I shouldn't give them any ideas.

Sunday? The one that showed them how out of touch / out of the mainstream their websie is? That rally was so pathetic, they couldn't get the Party Hacks and mid-lvel functionaries to turn out on Sunday. They are, in a word, irrelevant.

http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379&h=216&r=6m&y=r&u=freerepublic.com/&u=www.democraticunderground.comFree Republic has drooped from a reach of about 8 Million to 4 Million and Democratic Underground has made about 25% gains from about 1.5 Million to 2.0 Million in daily reach. Check out the rank as well. We are going up and they are going down. They were ahead of us by almost 6.5 million and now it's just 2 Million.
