3. Again, he needs to be plopped down in the middle of
NO's 9th Ward w/o food and water for a few days in this heat. He'd change his tune...

4. And if he was half a man
He'd have been there and had at least a small taste of what it was like, to be there for days without anything but heat and toxic water. Being a BushCo shill, he isn't human, and had no idea what they went through. They don't hire humans. Discrimination, of a sort.

7. Has that dumb fucker ever heard of a package of hamburger, or hot dogs?
How about baby formula? How about diabetics whose insulin needs to be kept refrigerated? That fuckin' guy needs major therapy. He's a heartless asshole.

9. I caught about 30 minutes of his appearance today
the republican questioners were shameless and "brownie" has truly distinguished himself as a uniquely incompetent crony.

10. Did he REALLY say that??
We could only watch a few minutes of the guy -- I don't think he played very well. His shameful attempts to put all the blame on Nagin and Blanco were making me sick.

26. Yeah, he said they were not in the ice business and that
he was deliberately trying to get out of the business of supplying ice at all.

Said he didn't know what was on the trucks, couldn't track when the trucks they knew were stocked were actually sent out, how many times those same trucks might have been appropriated, how many times they were asked to change their destination once on the road ...

That people couldn't COOK the food in their freezers anyway so he wasn't going to send ice to keep their hamburgers from their freezers cold.

I loved it when they asked him if he had ever been through a hurricane himself before. He had to answer no.

He has no clue what those people were going through down there.

It is really a hearing not to miss. Brownie gets handed his ass and he snarks back at them. He needed a whambulance by the end ... yes, WHAMbulance because they body slammed him many times.

He's smirking at the most inappropriate moments - is he another college pal turned up to give moral support?

15. Gene Taylor took Brown apart
Good Lord this man is bad. We should be recording this for commercials in 2006. If he isn't the poster child for incompetence and cronysm then I haven't a clue who is. Gene Taylor just took this fool apart. Question after question highlighting idiotic decisions made by FEMA. We should pay to give Brown a tour of the country.

He keeps asking about the Hurricane Pam exercise and saying you knew all this was going to happen ahead of time, why not ask for the things you'd need. He said DHS denied the funds for it.

Is he the congressman from Mississippi?
I saw a tiny bit this morning...the part where a congressman asked Brown what part of FEMA's plan included people having to loot Wal-Mart to get food and water!

It was great!

20. Great idea, dsc, for commercials. THIS is the face...
of the "conservative" movement, Michael Brown's face. Zuni is reporting, for example, that he said re. ice shipments something like, "It is too bad they did not get ice for their beer and cokes," in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4905208

Jon Stewart will not be able to fit this into one 30-minute show.

23. quite liberal Congressman from CT
He was one of a literal handful of Republicans who didn't vote to impeach Clinton. I think he is pro choice, has a decent gay rights record, and a decent enviromental record.

You know, the town where they showed the washed-away bridge to Long Beach? He is a great dem representative from MISSISSIPPI! His district got decimated by Katrina.

28. they are going back to the house for the votes from today's business
but they will show the rest of the hearing when this is over.

They said the house session might last until midnight though, so set your vcr/tivo to catch the whole thing.

30. Too bad this was a Republican hearing.
Can you imagine if it had Democrats questioning him, or even better, it was a truly independent panel?

Dream on...

33. I think it's a good thing.
You can bet that if dems had participated, all rules would have been completely different and a strict (and short) time limit imposed on all questioners.
Probably more in line with 911 and Condi style rules.

Christopher Shays even stated on Washington Journal that he will have to ask tougher questions since the Dems will not be there to prevent the appearance of a whitewash.
