Any squeaks from the freepers about "Commander in Chief"?
I expect to hear pissing and moaning from them about how awful it was that the female president 1)defied male authority when it told her to step aside, 2)had the audacity to suggest that a woman should not be put to death "for having sex", 3)would actually wield her power and not fall apart.

So, does anybody have a link to RW reactions? Big storm a'comin'.

2. Freepers aren't attracted to "hot" women. They're Ann Coulter worshipers
They would't know what to do if the were locked in room with one that didn't look like a crack addict.

Geena Davis is way too smart for freepers.

4. Here's the thread. And they already made it ironic...
Here's a freeper thread on the show:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1492697/posts

Following an article from Front Page Magazine. Here's the money quote: "Last night, “Commander in Chief” portrayed conservatives as ruthless, power-hungry, militaristic, Bible-thumping, sexist bigots."

Clearly, the reviewer doesn't pay much attention to the Freeper website. No TV show could portray conservatives as more "power-hungry, militaristic, Bible-thumping, sexist bigots" than does their own website. ROTDLMAO.

6. That's because conservos ARE power-hungry
ruthless, militaristic, bible-thumping sexist bigots. Cons, especially freepers, cannot handle the truth.

7. Here's a link to their first discussion of it last night:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1492553/posts

And a link to ABC's own message board for the show, where there were a lot of silly complaints from wingnuts:

http://forums.go.com/abc/primetime/commanderinchief/forum?byThread=true&start=0&forumID=34

Sample of the "thinking" from the wingnuts there, in this post from taninush at http://forums.go.com/abc/primetime/commanderinchief/thread?threadID=574364&forumStart=0 :

I didn't watch this show and I'm not going to. It looks like we're getting ready to prepare ground for Hilary...
She looks like Hilary, she behaves like Hilary and she stinks like Hilary.
It's so obvious that someone is getting ready for the next election; perfect timing - we need a year or two to develop the character, and you are guaranteed votes of all idiots that watch this stupid show.
And then we'll be living in a Communist country where everybody is equal, everybody is poor and homeless.
Good luck.

10. Well, to be honest, I thought that, too.
That this was groundwork for Hillary.

Now, I don't think we'd be living in a Communist country should Hillary get the nomination (she won't win the general election, by the way) and I don't think Hillary stinks - so my reasons are different from the Freepers.

I think it's a ploy to herd the Democrats behind a losing candidate, myself. Afterall, all the networks are controlled by Republicans (save the ViaCom division of CBS).

12. I have more respect for Geena Davis
Are you a man? Why would you assume a woman would let herself be used that way? I think Geena Davis is too smart to sign on to a partisan fluff job. I expect to see her to present political issues in a completely non-partisan way that will blow the socks off of a few people around here.

13. No, I'm female, as if that makes a difference.
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 10:45 AM by Clark2008
And I don't see it as Geena Davis allowing herself to be used. I see it as a subtle plot that she's not in on.

Geena doesn't write the script, for Pete's sake.

I still think it's a ploy to herd Dems behind a Hillary nomination that absolutely can't win a general election. We have to flip some red states and she can't and won't do that.

P.S. And maybe Geena is in the Hillary camp. Not that it's stupid to be so, it's just that, as someone who lives in what used to be a blue state that's gone far to red in recent years, I know that Hillary is not as accepted in the Heartland as she would be in California or New York, places Geena is accustomed to. She may just not be aware of the venom in the purple states for the woman.

That was Martin Sheen's plan with West Wing too, just create some piece of political propaganda. Because that's what actors of that caliber are all about. :eyes:

11. That's their platform for chrissake
US is the number one super power that should express its will throughout the world with military force because the US is a Christian nation, which, coincidentally, happens to be the believe of mostly white men and nobody else.

ABC/Disney is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party. This is their flagrant attempt at brain-washing the viewing public to accept Hitlery's run in '08. But who would watch this laughable drivel but those lefties who would vote for her anyway? The companies sponsoring this slop are the biggest losers of all because this will turn off many consumers.

DISNEY IS A WHOLLY-OWNED SUBSIDIARY OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY????:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Tell Michael Moore that! Damn ignorant assholes!

19. Doesn't her character portray an Independent?
I was trying to watch the show and cook at the same time which means I miss a lot of the show, but wasn't the dying President a hardcore conservative and chose her to win the Women's vote for the election? Didn't he want her to step down because she wasn't conservative enough? If so, why wouldn't freeps think that this show could help Condi instead of only assuming this show will help Hillary?

Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 11:44 AM by notmypresident
was to prepare us for an African-American president.

33 years later, still waiting.

As if ABC, owned by DIsney, wants Hillary for president.

I know the exact agenda of this TV show. To get ratings so ABC can charge advertisers money to run their commercials.

NOTE: I know the OP did not present the "preparation" theory but i have heard it more than a few times and it will surely be a RW talking point.
