Just because he isn't Majority Leader right now doesn't mean he'll change |
|
As long as Tom Delay has a congressional seat he'll keep doing what he's doing. Sure, he's 'stepping aside' because of the grand jury indictment, but that just means he'll continue on behind the scenes using step-ins Drier & Blunt to do his dirty work.
Until Delay is either in Jail or removed from office he will still be a problem. If this was a democrat indicted you know the repukes would be all "Hell & Brimstone" forcing the dem to step down. But Delay has done many great things to advance the repuke cause and the repukes will protect their own with all their hearts & mind.
The indictment is merely a change in Republican Leadership. But tomorrow when the house resumes, Delay will still be there doing what he does everyday. You can count on that one!

1. Plus if you get rid of him completely |
|
there's gonna be another roach just like him ready to take his place. Just like bugs. Ya get rid of one, there's many more like him still there. We've got to go after the symptom of this dreaded disease we call modern day conservatism.

3. I was always told if you see just one cockroach visible... |
|
...it means there are several hundred more hidden away in the woodworks that we can't see

We just can't let up on them. There needs to be many more indictments like this, a purging of the neocons.

2. You're right, but it is another slam to the Pub Party! |
|
Plus, it's closed the money flow, at least a little! I've known quite a few less than honorable business people, but NONe were willing to go to jail! This indictment will also put a lot of DeLays concentration on keeping his own butt out of jail!
It's not the best we could hops for, but it's still a good thing.
Don't forget, the Fitz GJ is close to ending too, so this is just the beginning of the good news.
If we can't take 'em all out, one at a time will do just fine!

7. If he's found guilty they should revert back the districts |
|
Since the whole re-redistricting was based on the schemes done by Tom Delay

10. I only wish that would happen, but I doubt it will. |
|
Unfortunately, that's not what the indictment is for, even though that's what the $$ was used for.

8. But Lott & Delay are two different types of people |
|
There were repukes happy to see Lott step down because they felt he compromised too much to the democrats. Delay never had this problem

9. It also doesn't mean he loses his power |
|
DeLay rose to power by being the Go To guy. Want expensive cognac in your hotel room during a golf outing? Go To Tom. Need money for your campaign? Go To Tom. Have a secret fetish? Go To Tom.
Tom know the secrets and set up the lot of them. That's how he's been able to have such a stranglehold of his minions when it comes down to votes.
So, while he might not officially hold the seat he still has the goods on them. It's just going to be a question of how far they can distance themselves from him without saying anything bad about him. Distance will give them some breathing room, but I don't expect to see independance or criticism from the Republicans.
A Republican criticizing another Republican is equivalent to taking a cyanide pill.
