Buchanan says that Delay has too much scandal for the republicans to support him further. They are going to have to drop him.

Points out the DA must have either (or both): {1} a witness who is in Delay's office, who has turned; or {2} a paper trail.

likely the combination. A DA would be going out on a limb if he only had some questionable paper trail, or a weasal trying to save his own behind. This seems more solid. People like Matthews and Buchanan wouldn't be so sure he's dead in the water if they didn't know there was something solid.

because it works really well! (grin) It leaves the accused few choices. What to do? Attack the little fish? "Oh, yeah! Well, when he worked for me, he did ______!!!" I think that there must be at least one person that the DA turned.

was telling. He starts off gruff and angry, accusing the DA of being a criminal. But when he began to talk about himself, he could not say two sentences without fumbling words. Were I interviewing Tom in the county jail, I'd know his performance was that of an anti-social lying shit.

just day-dreaming that I'm not retired, that I've walked across the street to the jail, and listened to his crap. "Well, Tom, we have a problem here. I can tell that you are lying."
No reason. None at all.

11. Pat is full of BS! It's a Weak Charge Against DeLay Unfortunately........ |
|
and not the charges the DA wanted from the GJ. But it beat nothing. DeLay's two buddies indicted are looking at 99 years each. DA hoping to roll them to get more on Tommy Boy for later but the Papa Bush Texas Family Mafia is EXTREMELY powerful and dangerous. 14. Doesn't matter. State jail felony or murder... |
|
... a felony is a felony is a felony.
Ronnie Earle (did I mention he was prosecutor of the year in Texas?) wouldn't have indicted him if he didn't have his ducks in a row.
Felony conviction = no more polictickal career.

First, Pat B. said even if Tom Delay beats the charge, his career is done. The White House has to drop support for him because he has too much baggage. Second, he said that about half the House republicans are ready to withdraw support for Delay.
Conspiracy charges are historically hard to prove. But we do not know the evidence the DA has. Hence, one can only speculate -- without having any real knowledge -- about the strength of the charges.

23. That's an important point. |
|
While I do not support even moderate republicans as a rule, I am aware that a growing number are looking to distance themselves from the administration. A number of times in the past 16 months, I have quoted from Joseph Wilson's book, where he quotes unnamed republicans who express dismay at the strong-armed tactics that the administration takes in trying to crush those who disagree with them.
There are republicans who are sincere in their beliefs -- some are fiscal conservatives, for example, who know that the Halliburton war in Iraq is a sin. Others know the WMD lies were criminal. This is the beginning of the shift that "old-timers" recognize from the Nixon era. Today is an important day.

The first domino was Safavian (sp?), now Delay, next week maybe Fitz will have a gift or two for us. Haven't mentioned Frist because I'm not sure yet if it will have legs though I think it has squashed any hopes he has of being a viable candidate for Prez.

36. Yep, they will be jettisoning DeLay and probably Frist. I can |
|
hear in now. In 2006, they will be saying "Oh, we're REAL CONSERVATIVES, not NEOCONS. You can vote for us. We're the good guys."
Then they'll continue with the same old agenda. That is why we need to stop making a distinction between Cons and NeoCons.

I am letting my representatives know that I will not donate a penny to any candidate who is not strongly opposing the war.

21. The fact his "partners" are facing 99 years in prison is relevant,... |
|
,...to the strength of the charge against him. I'll bet it's a very tight indictment. That doesn't mean pressure will not be placed upon every single participant to drop the thing. Nevertheless, I feel pretty confident that the DA has more than ample evidence to sustain a conspiracy conviction.

Sorta like you do not want to see him prosecuted. Why would I think that? I am confused friend. You got to admit the guy is tainted at best.

1. There has been a dozen threads started on what NeoNazi Pat Buchanan said on this subject and he is totally wrong per usual.
2. BushCo will not and cannot dump DeLay without exposing the Bush Family Texas Mafia. PERIOD
3. We spent 3 years in a Grand Jury investigation here in Austin/Houston and for that we get ONE weak "Hail Marry" charge against DeLay, involving only ONE transaction. That's pretty disgusting.
4. It's obvious from reading the indictment that DeLay's attorney's had some say in it's drafting, which is not uncommon in Texas. Bottom line, DeLay will never spend a day in jail on this matter after 3 years of hard work.
5. Finally, this is not Mexico, our legal system doesn't operate under Napoleonic Law.

22. It's raining fire on the Republican leadership,...for sure. |
|
Brown, Delay, Frist, Abramoff + his network,...and I find myself frequently fantasizing about Fitz's up-n-coming actions.
There's a LOT of folks starting to talk in rural America: about Katrina, about Cindy (damn straight she has the moral authority to ask, "What noble cause?"), the war, the fuel and cost-of-living increases, the debt, the tax cuts for the most wealthy, etc.
People are starting to talk.
