1. What about the Grand Jury members? |
|
They are the ones who handed down the indictment. They had to be shown evidence that was compelling to them, so there must be something there. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

in the past. Only 3 Repugs, and either 12 or 15 Dems. Yeah, really a partisan Democratic prosecutor...

I appreciate those who watch the "news" and report to us but for your sanity take a few days off. Really. It has helped me focus and regroup and I worry about you all who still watch this crap daily. I gave up on Tweety looooong ago. Just hoping you can stay sane.

I turned it all off for the most part before November and I feel so much better, my mind is clearer. Sometimes I just really worry knowing how it made me feel when I used to watch it.
Ahhhh, sanity returning. Good for you and thanks for letting us know what you saw. It is important but so stressful to watch.

|
Mr. Matthews – Re: Earle being a partisan hack.
Could you do your frigging homework BEFORE you spout off for once! – Is that too much to ask? Took me about 10 seconds to find this from DailyKos on my coffee break – you.are.a.joke.
"During his long tenure, Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle has prosecuted many more Democratic officials than Republicans. The record does not support allegations that Earle is prone to partisan witch hunts." This assertion supports Earle's own claim about his record; a March 6 article in the El Paso Times reported: "Earle says local prosecution is fundamental and points out that 11 of the 15 politicians he has prosecuted over the years were Democrats."
His highest profile prosecutions include a Democratic state supreme court justice, a Democratic attorney general, a Democratic state treasurer, and a Democratic speaker of the Texas House.

34. The heart of Delay's crime has been blasted even by conservative papers |
|
in Texas. The heart of the matter is that Delay's PAC was using funds illegally raised and improperly attributed to affect local state races. My local legislator--Ann Kitchen--and others were defeated narrowly because of a last minute campaign push by TAB, who used corporate money to violate spending limits to send out last minute mailouts. They tried to skirt the law by not actually endorsing a candidate, but only blasting one and praising the other. They also did not print attributions on the mailouts, so no one knew who paid for it.
THis give the Repubs control of the state legislature, and two years later they used that majority to redistrict the Congressional seats in Texas, costing the Democrats seats in Congress.
Behind TAB (Texas Association of Businesses) was Delay's PAC.
So don't let anyone tell you this was a partisan issue. The law was put into place to prevent exactly what happened from happening, and the effects of this crime were far reaching.
