He's relatively clean, looks and sounds fantastic on TV, and the recent revelation of his semi-hidden alternative lifestyle has not significantly hurt his effectiveness. If he had to back away from the limelight because of that revelation, it was probably a choice by the party to pull him back and prepare him for this new assignment.

Keep in mind that the repukes never do things without thinking about them, and I mean thinking about them a lot.

While some DUers are writing "I don't care about 2008, I care about 2006", you can be sure that the repukes DO care about 2008. And 2010. And 2012. And 2014.

Drier's homosexuality to their fundy base. Will Drier say that he "got Jesus" and is "cured"? Will he say that though he is gay, he "doesn't indulge"? I see his elevation to Majority Leader to be problematic, unless the neocons have written off the religious right.

*co's hardcore base will tell themselves whatever lies they need to. You know how it works, they are kinda insane. You can't change what you can't change, and worrying about it is wasted effort. Meanwhile, there are those who CAN be swayed, so go at them.

Step up your efforts at contacting your Dem reps. Pick a topic a week and send an email one day, a letter the next and then a phone call later in the week. Do this every week. Slowly, we all must increase the baseline noise. Keep pushing our messages, but louder.
